Reminding Avery

Most of the guys in my town had me marked as off limits. My dating history was slim to none, until Dylan. He didn’t let labels deter him from sweeping me off my feet. The day Avery Stanton took a chance on me is that day my life changed. Nothing else mattered but her. All I ever wanted was for her to be happy. I just wanted to love her, no matter how much distance was between us. Dylan Knight wrecked me. He made me fall in love with him and then took it all away. Now I’m back, and I can’t deal. How do I pretend that he no longer owns my heart when all my heart does is scream his name? Avery’s back and I know I have a fight on my hands. I remember every minute, every touch, every kiss, and every breath of our time together. Now I need to remind her.

Unfortunately, this one really didn't work for me. The first half bored me to tears and the second half was rushed with the heroine acting like an over the top spoiled whiney bitch.

OK so since the book has been published I am going to elaborate on why this one annoyed me so much. First I will say in my second chance romances I prefer either they both sleep with other people or the both remain celibate (excluding reasonable extenuating circumstances). That is my gold standard.

description

In the case of this book, they both slept with other people while apart. BUT and it is a HUGE but, the entire fours years they are apart the hero is keeping tabs on her. He stalks her at her college. He buys a house for them to live in. He makes plans to get her back after she is finished college. He has her parents and brother and her BFF helping him. They ALL adore him. Epic love right? WRONG...because when the "sorrow of missing her got too much" <--- (seriously that is word for word his excuse) he had random hookups with OW. I am sorry...but WHAT??!! How does that even make sense? It doesn't. At least for me.

If the author had both these characters move on and not see each other (the heroine didn't see the hero ONCE in all the four years apart, so her trying to move on by sleeping with OM made perfect sense to me), I wouldn't have had an issue with his sleeping with OW. That is not how the author chooses to paint the story. She presented us with pages and pages and pages of this guy whining and telling anyone who would listen about how much he LOVED her and how much he MISSED her. Alas, actions speak louder than words and his told me he really DIDN'T love her as much as he claimed.

And THAT is what brought this book down from a 3-Star review to a 2-Star one.

It's funny how the hero said that the stupid heroine was the love of his life but he couldn't keep his d*ck in his pants! And let's also blame the stupid heroine because she didn't want to go away to college for him so him being the awesome guy that he is (I'm being sarcastic btw) broke up with her ass and basically told her it's her fault because she didn't want to leave him and let's not forget her family was in it with him even her best friend. He also stalked her ass during her stay in college and everyone knew.

Sometimes I forget how old I am, and then I read a book about teens and I am reminded.... this is one of those times. I am too old for high school romance and it made it hard for me to get into this book.

Kaylee Ryan is my go to author when I'm in need of a small town read!

Reminding Avery is a sweet story that starts off with a first love vibe. I was swooning over Dylan and Avery's relationship. This couple is a match made in heaven, if there ever was one!

Avery is the football coach's little sister.

In short form that means that the football jocks know that no matter what they don't go near her. She is completely OFF LIMITS!

Avery has a crush on Dylan who happens to be the quarterback of the football team. When Dylan's best friend invites Avery's best friend to hang out after a football game. Dylan realizes there is more to Avery than just her looks, he realizes something that he's always known, Avery is a sweetheart and if he's not careful the 'don't get involved with anyone' rule he set for himself, might just get broken! Avery has dreams of going to college, rooming with her best friend, and becoming a teacher. She never took into consideration that sometimes dreams change until she starts to fall hard for Dylan. Now she's dead set on changing her plans and attending college closer to home. However, Dylan isn't buying that and wants Avery to follow her dreams. Even if that means giving up the only woman he's ever loved, he'll do whatever he can to make her dreams come true.

Reminding Avery is quick to go from a first love story to a second chance romance novel!

Throughout the novel I fell faster and harder for Dylan.

This man put his wants aside in order for Avery to achieve her dreams. He put his heart on the back burner and made the ultimate sacrifice. Dylan had me swooning throughout this whole novel.

I have to admit Avery pissed me off for just a little bit in this novel. I loved her in the beginning. I thought she was perfect for Dylan. I understand people who are heartbroken sometimes react differently but Avery acted like a spoiled brat. It was her way or no way and that is not how a relationship works. Compromising is the key to happiness.

Even though Avery pissed me off around the halfway mark I still loved the hell out of this novel! This novel was packed with everything I expect from a Kaylee Ryan novel. Small town feel, Strong Family Values, and  realistic relationships and friendships.

Reminding Avery gave me ALL THE FEELS!!!

I hope you all love it just as much as I did!

Avery Stanton, Dylan Knight likes her. In fact alot of the gyms at the high school like her. But poor Avery is off limits in their eyes. Why? She just happens to be the football teams coach.
In true Kaylee Ryan fashion this book was fantastic. I have read all her books and have never been disappointed. Being in high school is suppose to be fun. Your young, you have a ton of friends and of course there's always that one CUTE guy. And in Avery Stanton's case that guy is the captain of the football team. Their best friends like each other and want to hang out together. Dylan agrees to hang out with Avery and the rest they say is history. I'm not going to say how their road of happens goes cause what fun would that be. But I will say the road to happiness wasn't easy. Dylan and Avery hit a lot of bumps. Dylan is unlike your typical teenager. I really admire him.

God my heart is so full i can't take it. I've been a kaylee fan for years and each and every book holds a place in my heart. Especially Just Say When, but i think Dylan just topped Nate. I didnt think it was possible for to lo e a character as much as Dylan. From page 1 i was completely hooked by this strong devoted man. And Avery is his perfect match in everyway. Dylan's sacrafice for the woman he loves nearly broke me in two and then getting to watch them fall in love all over again had me swooning page after page. Another kaylee ryan triumph. Can't wait to see what she gives us next.

Is there such a thing as a H who is too good to be true, i.e. too sweet, too self-sacrificing? That unicorn exists with this H, Dylan. And I admit that I was a little irritated and over him by the end. And I wasn't a huge fan of the recipient of all this too goodness, Avery.

First off if you have not read any of Author Kaylee Ryan book's you really should. I am blown away by the Love Dylan has for Avery. Avery loves life and she knows what she wants in life, But she never thought meeting Dylan would make her want to change those plans. Dylan loved Avery with everything he had in him. Dylan and Avery find a strong bond between them and each not wanting to have the other give up their dreams. What do you do, do you stay or do you go. Well Dylan does the up most sacrifice and helps make Avery's dreams come true, but at what price. Follow their amazing story and see if love can win all or will the sacrifice destroy all hope between them.

Dylan is such a sweetheart, it wasn't hard to fall in love with the man, “slow gets thrown out the damn window if I think something’s happened to you.” I'm not sure what it is about cars, but Avery and Dylan sure seem to get freaky in theirs a lot, “not as long as I’m breathing .” Bringing my lips to his, I kiss him, slowly, only to be interrupted by the honking horn of a passing car. “We definitely need to get these front two windows tinted.” He laughs." I loved this book, Dylan was seriously just a freakin sweetheart.

Kaylee knows how to draw you into a book right away. I was invested in this story by the end of the first chapter. Dylan and Avery have a relationship that truly makes your heart smile. It's a love that is selfless on both ends. The love these two have makes you cheer for a HEA. I truly enjoyed this second chance romance! I really loved the extended epilogue too!

I'm sorry to give this book only 2 stars and this is probably my personal taste but for me this was just an ok read (the first half of the book bored me and I didn't cared much about Avery and Dylan's relationship in the last half, I tried but it was definitely not for me)!!

Reminding Avery is a beautifully written second chance romance, where we get to see Avery and Dylan fall in love, and fall apart, and then find their way back to one another again. I read this book in one sitting and definitely have a book hangover now!

When we first meet Avery and Dylan, they are high school seniors, and Avery is untouchable, due to who her brother is, but Dylan doesn’t care and once he gets to know her, there is no stopping him from going after her. The attraction and feelings between these two are undeniable and throughout their senior year we get to see an amazing and beautiful love story form. I loved watching these two fall in love with one another, and I was like I want a Dylan in my life! The way Dylan loves Avery is beautiful and selfless. He would do anything for Avery and he proves it by breaking his own heart.

Four years later these two are back in the same town again, and Dylan is still in love with Avery and is now fighting with everything he has to get her back. Since this book is told in both of the characters points of view, we really got to see the pain Avery felt, but also the pain Dylan felt with the decisions he made. Seeing these two apart broke my heart, just like their hearts were breaking. I wanted Avery to see everything Dylan did for her, and I wanted Dylan to speak up and explain what he did and why he did it. Both of them had make some pretty stupid decisions when they were younger, but their love for one another hadn’t changed. They both were immature at times, but one thing that never changed was their feelings for one another, it’s just getting them on the same page at the same time, that took a lot of time.

The one thing I loved I loved in this book was the secondary characters. Alan, Brad, Harley, Avery’s parent’s, Dylan’s dad, Brad’s parents, and even Kara. They all played such a huge part in Avery and Dylan’s story and helped form the relationship these two have. They helped them see things in different ways, and were there for them when they always needed it.

This story was beautifully written and engaging. I loved the characters and how the story flowed. I wanted to love and hate Avery and Dylan at times, but I understand why their journey had to be the way it was. Their story wouldn’t have been as amazing, if it wasn’t for the heartbreak we had to endure as readers to get the ending that the characters deserved, as well as the extended epilogues! I highly recommend one-clicking Reminding Avery by Kaylee Ryan today, it’s a book you won’t regret reading!

Reminding Avery is a two part story that follows Avery and Dylan through high school, college, and adulthood. We see how the normal bumps and twists of life effect them and how they handle them.

Oh, this sweet little story! I absolutely ADORE Dylan! He is a swoony book boyfriend to the max! Avery, however... *sigh* She causes herself, Dylan, her family, her BFF... all sortsa TROUBLE and it's completely unnecessary. She annoyed me. She sort of annoyed me enough that I started wondering why Dylan was so in love with her. Ugh.

Overall, even when Avery was annoying me, I did ENJOY the story. The writing & telling of the story were good - it's lots of fun & lots of swoony moments & I especially loved the way the epilogues were done! Give the story a shot - even if you want to smack Avery a few times like I did, when you DON'T want to smack her, she's a pretty cool character, as well. ; )

Avery is the ‘It Girl’. Her brother, Alan, is the high school football coach, ten years her senior...thus, making her unattainable to any potential suitors.

They are in their final year of high school and three of them are soon leaving for college. Dylan is the high school quarterback and doesn’t plan to pursue college but remain behind and work with his father. This is his last year and he plans to make football his focus. Until their best friends Brad and Harley begin dating...and ultimately, so do they.

These are enlightened parents, Avery’s mother gets her birth control as a precaution and Brad’s mother allows them to sleep together when they innocently fall asleep.

Their time is spent together and soon their romance becomes serious. Confessing feelings, she confides to her brother, that she’s contemplating remaining in town.

She’s willing to sacrifice her scholarship rather than be separated. Dylan overhears that conversation and is insistent that she must not refuse her scholarship.
“Avery. For as long as I live I will never love anyone the way I love you. You are it for me. If staying together means you give up your dream for me, then we’re over.”
“Why are you doing this? You just told me you loved me. This is what you want?”
“Honestly, no. There is nothing I want less, but this is how it has to be. I’m here. I only have eyes for you. We can do long distance.”
“No. That’s not what I want. I won’t make it without you.”
“How do you know, Avery? We’ve never tried. Just try it for me.”

“No. You’ve made your decision. It’s done.” She is unyielding. and steadfast in her decision. It’s an all or nothing deal.

Dylan was endearing, he was not promiscuous but yearned for her for four years. Neither of them were celibate. Unsuspectingly, their friends and family were complicit in keeping him updated as he lived in the periphery.

Brad and Dylan remained close and he visited several times. Harley warned her each time, and she always took the opportunity to drive home to avoid him.

Fast forward, they’re both twenty-two. Harley and Brad are getting married and they’re all moving back to their parents. Harley and Avery found teaching positions at the same school.

Four years has elapsed and she hasn’t seen him, not since the day he ended their relationship. Harley and Brad, even her family—have tried to convince her, his intentions were out of love. He confessed he loved her and then ended it. No calls, no texts, no more visits. That’s not love. She is a petulant child in an adult shell unwilling to compromise...

She wanted to make the decision for them both. Dylan wanted to stay together, they both lost out because she refused to try.

‘My Avery’ references from Dylan got old and Avery whinged ‘woe is me’ platitudes. He purchased her favourite house and it has remained unoccupied unless she is sharing it with him.

Many reviewers considered him creepy and stalkerish...although his actions were unconventional, he never prevented her from moving on or dating. He witnessed her spreading her wings from a distance and intervened when she exercised bad judgment placing herself at risk. I believe that transcended devotion.

‘I don’t think you’ve taken your eyes off her all night,”
“Mr. Stanton,” I greet Avery’s father.
“When Alan told me what happened, all I wanted to do was thank you for putting her first. Not many young men your age would’ve done that.”
“I love her.”
“I know you do. I knew how both of you were feeling, yet I still encouraged her to stay at Western.”
“A year ago—hell, six weeks ago, I would’ve agreed with you. Seeing the
two of you together again, you both wear it on your sleeves”.

There are subsequent updates at the end, as the years go by, as the couples have families and enjoy their happily ever after, remaining an integral part of each other’s lives.

Naw.

This started out ok but I struggled to finish this after Avery returned from college.
Her childish back and forth behavior was a drag, and Dylan is such a marshmallow, all sweet and mushy...all the time, too much.
Ok read but definitely not great, for me anyway.

We all have those authors. The ones that we come across almost accidentally and then they suck us in and empty our paltry bank accounts because we just have to read every single thing they have ever written (unless it's paranormal - I just don't go there, I like the little bit of sleep that I rarely get). For me, Kaylee Ryan is one of those authors. I was introduced to her earlier this year when I was on a single father kick. Who am I kidding, I'm still on it but that's another story. So when I got the opportunity to read Reminding Avery a few weeks early I was never going to pass it up. Would you? Didn't think so.
So as usual I ignored the blurb, ignored the teasers and I just dived right in. Blind. I swear to God books are best read that way. You get to experience everything not sit there thinking you know what is going to happen or waiting on a certain something to happen. More about that in another post. Anyway if I could quit my rambling and get to the point, I hear you say. We all expect certain things from certain authors, so when I started this I was all about the single dad. Then I realised there was no single dad and I almost cried. I thought that this was going to put a dampener on the book. There was no way I was going to enjoy it as much as the other books. Was I right? HELL NO I wasn't. Was I disappointed? HELL NO I wasn't. Reminding Avery was just EVERYTHING. It was love in its truest form. It was sweet and loving and romantic. Until it wasn't. Then it was loving and sacrificial - almost tragic. It made my insides hurt. I could feel the hurt coming off the pages and swallowing me up.
Isn't that what everyone wants? Someone that will love you enough that they will sacrifice themselves for you. That they leave themselves open to a lifetime of heartache to ensure that you live your dream. Lay themselves down so that you don't have to? Ok so maybe I've gone off on a canter here but this book. Oh my God this book is a true love story. I think its one of the most beautiful I have ever written.
You know what else I really love about Kaylee Ryan? Her characters are real. They are relatable. They are you and me. Look we all love the millionaire who falls in love with the girl next door - we swallow them up, but sometimes we need to remember that the girl next door might want to fall in love with the boy next door too!

Reminding Avery by Kaylee Ryan was a sweet story of young love and second chances. It was really the blurb that attracted me to this story. The off limits girl finds her guy, they fall in love and yet, find themselves facing separate paths, only to be reunited years later. But is it too late?

Avery Stanton is used to not dating in high school. As the little sister of the coach of the football team, she is completely off limits. She figured she would have a lot to make up for in college. Then in her senior year, Dylan Knight, the quarterback, enters her life and changes it forever.

Dylan Knight was always enthralled by Avery, but figured she would never be interested in a guy like him. He knew college was not for him. He had planned on no distractions his senior year and to enjoy being the star quarterback, but after one night with Avery, he was hooked.

This story is told over two periods of their lives. Their senior year of high school, when they find young love and after Avery returns from college. I loved Dylan; he was so sweet to Avery. She owned his heart, even when he did not make the right choices. But every choice he made, he made with her in mind. Avery was swept away by Dylan in high school, but when she returns four years later, she is determined to avoid him. He wrecked her once; she will not give him the chance to do it again.

I loved Dylan’s determination to win Avery back. Avery was very reluctant and who can blame her. I found Reminding Avery to be a quick and enjoyable read with light angst. It had likeable characters and a story that will draw you in. I loved that we got both point of views as well. This was a great mix of young love and second chances.

Jesus. This shite damn near gave me diabetes. I had to tap out at 70%. Literally couldn't take all the syrupy sweetness,
or the H's sappy, effeminate POV, or all the other fucking busy-body characters.
Why do people think that loving someone or wanting what is best for them gives them the bloody right to take that person's choice away, or control their path whilst secretly getting others to manipulate things behind the scenes? Is that supposed to make me go, "Aww...look at everything they did because it was for the BEST."

Horse bollocks.

And why does the H always have to KNOW that the girl he dumped years before still loves him and is affected by him? Can't one fucking writer out there create a heroine that ISN'T utterly predictable? Who can come off indifferent and unaffected and puts a stop to that insufferable, know-it-all smugness that all these heroes have?

No, they can't. Because then they wouldn't be able to mention hard nipples and wet knickers and boners and lip biting and all the other lame shit in these recycled stories.

This was just a load of silly codswallop. Nobody had any edge or anything that made them interesting to me. The conflict was w.e.a.k. Everybody was oh-so-sweet and good and perfect, and so of course it was perfectly okay to butt in and out of one another's lives and interfere and blast their opinions in each other's face.
If I had family and friends that presumptuous I would move so far away so fast it would make their heads spin. Nightmares, I tell ya.
I didn't give a shit about anyone in this book and I did well making it to 70%. I'm so over books with no substance or originality.

Flawless emotional writing will get me every time. This book was so great, and I never wanted it to end (3 awesome epilogues is exactly what I needed). KR always gives you the perfect plot, and a scenario that just fits with the characters. Dylan and Avery were just two that belonged together, from the beginning to the end.

Starts out in the past, which is truly where it needed to start. Sometimes I have a hard time with past vs future/present times in a book, but not this one. You truly needed to understand the history before you get to the present. Plus you learn the history of Brad and Harley too, which is key to the relationship unfolding.

There are many parts of this book that got me pinned so emotionally, that I had to take a break, just because I was crying. Now, don't think this is an angry or ugly cry type of book, because it isn't. I'm just an emotional reader. Dylan is a man that fell so head first in love with Avery that it was truly a beautiful thing. Wasn't fake or stupid. It truly was amazing to read about. There are many things that happened during that time period that just broke my heart, but honestly it was needed, because it gave Dylan the chance to remind Avery of why they were in each other's lives to begin with.

You truly do not want to miss this book. It's perfect and emotional and amazing. The writing is captivating. I voluntarily reviewed this book given to me by the author. I would implore you to read this book, and I dare you to love it as much as I do.

I have read pretty much everything Kaylee Ryan puts out into the world. I have just adored her from the first book I devoured of hers. So, I will say I went into this book expecting to be just head over heels for whatever it was. I was disappointed to find I felt it fell short for me. I will preface this by saying I am not a fan of second chance romance novels. Why that is I don't know. Maybe I just hate flashbacks? Maybe it's just all the drama? Idk but for some reason I never love them. In this case I tried to go in with a clear mind but, I can't promise it didn't sway me a bit. I found this book to be cheesier than I was expecting. He was almost to mushy mushy for me. Like I just started to roll my eyes at one point at all the stuff he said. The way he kept buying her things stopped feeling sweet after a while. It just was too much I think. All in all this book was definitely lacking for me. This won't be one I read again nor probably promote reading. Luckily there's more Kaylee Ryan books where this came from.

This tale is happy, romantic and endearing without any drama or angst, which makes this a remarkable novel to read over the weekend!

OMG! I was a lovesick fool from the beginning of this book. Kaylee Ryan delivers an emotional, sweet, sexy and romantic read. I absolutely loved this! These high school sweet hearts made my heart all warm and fuzzy.

From the very beginning, Dylan was the most sweetest and respectful guy towards Avery. He just kept making me love him more and more. His love, devotion and determination for Avery will sweep you off your feet. Kaylee Ryan writes a beautiful story of one’s true love. Dylan was just absolutely swoon worthy. He will have your heart fluttering with the depth of his love and the lengths he goes through to prove where his heart has always belonged.

I was totally taken over by Dylan himself as you can see. I loved the story line and the character development. I loved that this author kept this light and refreshing. It’s not full of overly drama and angst. It’s a truly beautiful story of a second chance at love.

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, secrets, pain, suspense, and heartbreak.

This is more of Avery and Dylan’s story. Avery was always off limits but Dylan loved her so he made his move. They were great together but he wanted all her dreams to come true and for that to happen they could not stay together. When Avery comes back to town Dylan is determined that he will get his woman back. He still loves her. But after getting her heart broken Avery does not want to let Dylan back in. She knows she still loves him but the pain was just too much. But Avery must have forgotten just how determined that Dylan could be she just might be fighting a losing battle to keep her heart locked up tight.

I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I highly recommend this book.
