Almost Jamie (The Jet City Kilt Series Book 1) Kindle Edition
ALMOST JAMIE is book 1 of the Jet City Kilt series.
One lonely doctor. One sexy guy in a kilt. No, not that Jamie…but almost.
Fresh from London, Blair Edwards is Seattle’s newest cancer doctor. She’s been burned by love before, but that isn’t stopping her from looking for the kind of passion she sees in Jamie, the dashing Highland laird of a wildly popular TV series.
Austin MacDougall is a charming cosplaying Seattle millionaire. After a little help from his matchmaker, he’s a reformed geek who looks hot in a kilt. So hot, in fact, that he’s often mistaken for the actor who plays Jamie. But that still hasn’t found him love.
A chance meeting at Jet City Comicon and a twist forces them to play lookalikes for TV's most popular Scottish Highlander and his lady.
But playing lovers isn’t the same thing as being lovers. Right?
Don’t tell them that.

About the author

ROMANCE ADDICT. HOPELESS DAYDREAMER. PEOPLE WATCHER. TOTAL ROMANTIC AT HEART.
That's me. When I'm lost in a good book a nuclear bomb could go off next to me - I wouldn't flinch. I'm not afraid to read in public and laugh until my eyes water and my sides hurt. I'll cry at a tender moment. Dab my eyes when a couple finally realizes they're in love. Race with my heart pounding to the end of an adventure. Give me a little mystery - now I'm really intrigued.
I'll fall in love with a hot, witty hero any day of the week. Shhh. Just between you and me? My biggest turn-on? A man with a sense of humor. Let me melt now. I'm hooked.
Give me billionaires, modern-day dukes and royals. Give me hot, witty nerds, and intelligent men.
Marriages of convenience? Fake relationships? Second-chance romances? I'm in!
I write books that I want to read. That make me laugh. That make my heart race. If any of this sounds good to you, join me! If you want to be sure to hear when I have a new release, visit me at www.ginarobinson.com and sign up for my newsletter.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 8, 2018I really enjoyed book 1, hated the cliff-hanger ending, but had to know where it went & bought the following 3 books in the series. Book 1 was free, but the remaining books were a bit high priced IMO at $4.99 each. I normally don’t spend that much for books. This was definitely a unique story line, with humor & tears, & a keep you guessing plot. Blair & Austin’s chemistry is fantastic together, actually reading about them falling in love, as well from book 1 thru book 4. I stayed up way to late, back to back nights, to finish the series because I couldn’t put it down. Great reading!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 9, 2018Almost Jamie has great references to the Cosplay/Comicon life, and some serendipitous meeting. However, it did end on somewhat of a just "happy for now" (HFN) with a bit of cliffhanger for further adventures.
Blair Edwards is Seattle's latest cancer doc, after leaving her BF behind in London, as he's not going to commit, and she needed to be in Seattle for her career to move forward. Only her love of romance novels of the fictional Highlander Jamie keep her companion... Until she runs into the next best thing... a cosplay Jamie that is virtually indistinguishable from the real thing... at Jet City Comicon, when she attended in cosplay as Jamie's lady in red! // Austin MacDougall (yes, he's a Scot) is a Seattle Tech Millionaire that cosplay for fun and bragging rights, and being a Scot, he's practically a dead-ringer for the actor playing Jamie, esp. when they are both in costume. But his love life is so bad, he enlisted a dating coach / matchmaker to up his game... just when Blair came to his rescue after a cosplay swordfight at Comicon dislocated one of his fingers. And they can't possibly be better matched... but there's a huge difference between PLAYING lovers... and BEING lovers... but they can adapt, can't they, esp. when a TV producer wanted to push the local romance angle?
Both tech and Comicon references are spot on, and the meet-cute deserves an award by itself. But that meet-cute ended up taking a good portion of the book to resolve, then the story pivoted into a reality TV show angle. Given there are a few more volumes, this ended up as more of an "intro" to the saga between the couple, thus a "happy for now" ending, with quite a bit of angst about problems to come, i.e. cliffhanger.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 26, 2020I'm a huge Outlander fan, so this book was. surprise to find.
I've never read something so quirky and modern. The supporting characters are so very interesting. The main characters are easy to like.
My complaint, it's totally transparent that the author is stretching the story to sell more books to keep her sales going. The books are almost bland. This serif really could have been combined into two books. Its so sad to see when a stunt like this is pu!led.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 18, 2020This was a great read for a fan of a certain other book series/show. I thought their parallel worlds ran well side by side. This book had great relationships, not only between Blair and Austin, but the side characters as well. I loved how well this book was written, I've never been to a comicon but I felt like I was at one while reading this book. yes this book ends on a bit of a cliff hanger, and yes there are 3 more books in the series, just be prepared to invest in this series, so far I haven't been disappointed.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 13, 2018Ok, the concept was very good in that it was a take/cosplay on the Outlander books. The interaction of the characters was very good, but getting the main characters together was soooo slow. Very disappointed that the story just ended (total cliffhanger), which meant you have to pat $4.99 for each of the additional books in the series (ok, the first book was free, but the other 3 are $4.99 each). Major disappointment since each book is UNDER 300 pages. Not everyone can spend that kind of money. Figured out that there will be a standoff between Austin and Randy at some point with Randy being put in his place, but it will be in another book that I can't afford to get at this time.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 30, 2018If you want to be strong armed into buying the next book, read this one. Do not give away a free book and then make readers pay to get the ending you promised at the beginning. I know you are trying to make a living, but if you can not honestly give the reader the first in a series to introduce yourself, then just don't offer it as a free book. You cheated me and anyone else that clicked on this book, because you didn't do your job as an author...provide a complete story. I hate when authors cheat the reader. And I do mean CHEAT the reader. Such a disappointment. I understand perfectly what a cliff-hanger is and this book is NOT IT!!! The ending hints at where this relationship goes, but does not finish their story. The author could have had a successful 2nd book in the series by picking one of the other characters and developing it, but to not even finish what she started with this story is a cheat and a really bad business decision. I will not only NOT buy anymore from this series, but will tag this author's name as to never buy any other stories from her in the future. And I will tell everyone I know to also NOT purchase this or any other of her books. If I could have given negative stars I would.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book!!!
Being a huge fan of the Outlander books and the series, I loved these books. The story was great, loved all the twists and turns it took. I read the books while being on a recent beach vacation. The characters were very interesting. What I didn’t like was that I thought it was only one book, but that was not so. When I finished the first book I came to realize that if I wanted to have any clue to what was going to happen I would have to buy the next book, then the next book and the final book. My first book was free, the rest were much more expensive. Over $25 for the last 4 books. I never pay that for a book, but I wanted to see how it ended. All in all it was a great story, really enjoyed it just not for the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars When fantasy turns to love
Good story. It shows how much work it is to keep the fantasy going, but Austin and Blair’s keep their heads while everyone around them lose theirs.

1.0 out of 5 stars NO
No, no, and no. I am deleting the book from my Kindle after posting this review. Cliffhanger in the book. It would not have had this review had the author or the blurb writer mentioned this point. I also would not have minded paying for another book just to see the ending. But no, this is part of a "Series," with an exorbitant price for each book that I am not willing to pay. Complete rip-off.
