Home Tears is seriously good. Tijan's talent is almost irritating. She nailed this one! -- Kylie Scott NYT Bestselling author

Dani’s survived a lot of sh*t storms.
Her mother died. Her two sisters loathed her. One aunt hated her. The other was strangely distant, but the worst storm—being dumped by her childhood best friend/high school boyfriend/first love for her younger sister.
There went the one person who was hers and with that, the main reason she stuck around. So, she left for ten years. But now she’s back, and nothing’s the same.
With help from Jonah Bannon, a reformed—kind of—bad boy she remembers from high school, Dani uncovers family secrets that have spanned generations. And along with those, she’s about to face the biggest sh*t storm of her life.
Only this time, she may not survive.

This isn't just a romance – it’s so much more – it’s about family, fighting demons and finding yourself. I can see why the book itself is polarising because you have to like Dani our leading lady and share her triumphs and horrors, to really "feel" Home Tears – I didn't just like her, I admired her.
Dani O’Hara ran away 10 years ago, she’s a runner – she ran when her boyfriend and sister betrayed her, she ran the moment she may have found happiness and she ran when tragedy struck. However she’s finally stopped running and now she's back a changed woman, returning to her small town of Craigstown setting tongues a wagging. She's lost one sister, Erica, and she's estranged from her other sister Julia. She's no longer the girl who left, and as the story progresses we get to learn why she left all those years ago and what she's been through while she's been gone.
There was so much going on in “Home Tears” that I found the story to be exciting, heartfelt, emotional and very powerful. Dani was an admirable heroine. She was strong and resilient. Her journey to finding her happily-ever-after was fraught with trials and heartbreak, but in the end, I think she needed all that to really connect to who she was and where she came from. I highly recommend this book it kept me riveted.

I didn't like this book in the beginning, the characters were just all over the place and I couldn't get clear picture of who they were meant to be as people. However, I'm a Tijan fan so I decided to try stick with the book a bit longer and the book definitely improved as it progressed and in the end it had a complex plot with many layers. For me, the heroine (Dani) became more likeable as she worked through her issues. The big failing, in my opinion, was the lack of emotional tension that Tijan normally creates so well and also didn't feel the chemistry between Dani and Jonah. Jonah's character didn't quite work. Overall a very worthwhile read.

I love tijans books. Theres so much depth and emotions in her books that they shred me apart. And this was no different. A book about finding yourself is something i relate to so much it hit me hard reading this. Beautifully written. The character growth and development was nicely done and the story realistic. I didnt feel the connection between our mc and her love interest till 3/4 of the way in but thats ok. I still loved the story and the progression. Definitely recommend this to everyone but be warned may need some tissues if you have a sensitive heart.

I have read a lot of Tijan books and am wondering if this is one of her older stories and sorta it fell flat for me and left me confused as to what all the angst was about. The terrible dark secrets to come out in the end were pretty run of the mill, its not like this happens in the 1950's.

Dani's relationship with Jonah seemed really rushed and he came across as a pretty flat character without much depth, compared to other Tijan MC's, I think there was a lost opportunity to expand on his character way more than what came across in the book. Usually the two protagonists have some type of history in a Tijan book, these two didn't.

Dani, has walked away from something pretty horrific, it just seemed weird as to how she was managing her PTSD and just slips into this new relationship? Was the incident just for shock treatment to make us feel sorry for Dani, dunno.

Boone is a previous love and is absolutely devastated by how Dani left him after THE incident, and for him to suddenly show up to the 1 place in the world that she is without any prior knowledge of it being her hometown is just (again) weird. Again, this character is left hanging and Dani sorta just walks away from him and flashes her new love in his face with not much guilt, why?

And, having an ex who goes from one sister to the next, wtf??? That's just weird and to be dumped by your boyfriend to go to the sibling that same night is just dam disrespectful. And, again weird, warped!!! I would have quite happily cut ties. There are some things blood should just never do.

The ending for me falls flat and the letter from Erica just came across as selfish and immature, would have been better off to just leave it out. Was this supposed to make the reader have some sympathy towards this character, it did not work for me. Sorry Tijan not one of your better works.

This is a book about secrets, family drama and love.
I like how there was trauma and how people deal with it. its about how no matter how good you hide a secret it will always always always come out. Secrets hurt people and it has a rippling effect. I think tijan capture it beautifully here. Again i would like a more wholesome ending but i suppose there is the beauty of Tijans books. It leaves your imagination run abit while with the what if's.

Highly recommended. I mean i would recommend all tijans book highly anyway.

    The Review:
    This isn’t just a romance...

I go into a Tijan read knowing I’m going to hit the mother load for angsts and come out in the end swooning. I love her books. They are always filled with crazy-out-there drama and a romance that I can read time and again. With Home Tears, I knew things were going to be a little different than her other books, but I had no idea just how different.

And I loved it! Every. Single. Bit. Of It!

Like I said, this is more than a romance. In fact, the romance sort of takes a backseat to the life of Dani O’Hara, her family and the townspeople of Craigstown. Of course, there is drama, there are buried secrets and the characters are incredibly lively ... all the things you’d expect from a great Tijan read. But there’s more. There’s so much more, if you just dig a little deeper and really take in the story this author is trying to tell.

    Story/Characters...
Dani O’Hara is a runner. She’s been running all her life. She ran by building walls around herself as a child, she ran the night her boyfriend and her sister betrayed her, she ran the moment she might have found happiness with another and she ran when tragedy struck. But now she’s back home in Craigstown and her reappearance after ten long years has sent the small town into a tailspin. Everyone is shocked. Everyone has something to say. And no one expected to ever see her again.

Jonah Bannon is a town hero. He’s worshiped by most and beloved by all. He could have his pick of any woman he wanted, especially in Craigstown, but the moment he sets his sights on Dani, he knows she’s the challenge he’s been waiting for.

Jake Cairns, Dani’s ex, has a bucket full of guilt. And when Dani comes back into his life, he’s thrown off balance. Julia O’Hara, Dani’s sister, isn’t pleased with her return either and drama unfolds as the sisters try to find their footing in a town two small for the both of them.

There’s also a mystery to solve. After returning home, Dani starts asking questions and soon realizes her family has more hidden secrets and lies between them than she ever thought possible. She’s come home to heal after the events that lead to her running again, but this time, she’s determined to stay and make peace with her past, but first, she has to find herself ... her true self. And with Jonah’s help, she might just be able to do that.

I loved Jonah and Dani’s chemistry. They were sweet and sexy and had a real connection as Dani was able to open up to him like she hadn’t been able to for anyone else. The drama, secrets and mystery surrounding the O’Hara family kept me glued to the pages, anxious to figure out what was going on and the incredible cast of entertaining characters brought the small town of Craigstown to life. And that dramatic ending isn’t one I’ll forget any time soon. I loved it!

    The Wrap Up:
There was so much going on in this read it and I found the story to be incredibly exciting, heartfelt, emotional and powerful. Dani was an admirable heroine. She was strong and resilient. Her journey to finding her happily-ever-after was fraught with trials and heartbreak, but in the end, I think she needed all that to really connect to who she was and where she came from.

This wasn’t just a romance.... For Dani and the people of Craigstown, it was a new beginning.

*I'm reviewing a personal copy of this book for wicked reads review team*

I read this book in just a few hours, it was a total page turner.

Dani is home after something happened in her life and she needed time to heal herself. people in her small town thought she was dead and now she is back to deal with all the family drama she walked away from ten years ago. Will she stay and deal with all her family issues or will she run like she always does?
Everyone treats her as the girl who ran except for Jonah.

Jonah is loved by everyone in town, he could have any girl he wants; however what he wants is a challenge and who better than the girl that runs at the first sign of trouble.

The past is dragged up and family secrets come out of the woodwork. the book is full of twists and turns that will keep you turning the pages.
