They say you don’t know what you have until it’s gone. Truth is, you always knew what you had, you just never thought you’d lose it.
After seventeen years alone, I’ve found my place with the brothers of the Fallen Aces MC. But now, my solitary existence within their walls is threatened.
When one of our members crosses a notorious drug-lord, my estranged son is put at risk. As his father, I’ll do everything I can to ensure his safety—even it means putting my second chance at love in jeopardy.
She’s just like me, with a heart too scarred to take any more pain. So why are there sparks every time I’m near? What is it about her that captivates me?
When she needs me as much as my son, how will I decide?

Max Henry

Full content visible, double tap to read brief content.

For as long as she can remember, Max has always had a love of the poignant and thought-provoking side to life.

Which probably stands to reason why each of her books take the reader on an emotional rollercoaster that not only promises twists, turns, and suspense but a heart-wrenching journey where her motto holds true:

Love never comes easy.

When she's not lost in an alternate world - fuelled by coffee and the odd sneaky bowl of chocolate (preferably M&Ms) - she spends her days as a wife to a dedicated husband, mother to two rambunctious boys, and an obsessive petrolhead enjoying the muscle on display at the local car shows.

An excellent second book in The Butcher Boys series. Vince and Sonya are broken from their pasts can they heal each other and can Vince make Malice understand why he shutdown. There is a story that runs through the series so far but can be read as a stand-a-lone.

Max Henry has got herself a lifelong fan.
I thought Book one blew me away, but now Book two has sold me on the fact that Max has a serious true talent for writing.
She not only captures your attention, but gives you an amazing intense story to follow, with a side of SIZZLING intimate moments.
This books starts out with a story type that I have never read anywhere before. The type of character history and pain, yes. But the journey this story took, I have never come across even though it is something many people have travelled in real life. I loved what she did with this.

Vince is an intense, sexy man with an extremely disturbed past.
Sonya is someone Vince has watched for many years with Extreme interest. Yes her large breasts are every man's dream, but she is one of the most caring and selfless women Vince has ever met.
One thing leads to another and they meet in some scenes that resulted in multiple changes of panties, if you know what I mean. Lol. ;)
But, Sonya is currently dealing with her troubled past; and Vince is dealing with his messy history & trying to get back in contact with his estranged son, Malice.

So, will they become each other’s forever?
Can they be each other’s Forever?

This, you will have to see for yourself......

Having just finished reading 'Devil on Your Back' book 2 of Max Henry's "Butcher Boys" series, I'm left in AWE yet again! Leaving me SPEECHLESS, her ability to drag the ugliest situations in life & create something dark & yet beautiful all at once leaves me stunned. You feel as though the character/s life could be your own.

There was a touch more darkness in 'Devil on Your Back' than in book 1 of the series, but I feel it was needed, the personal lose for the main characters is traumatic, life changing, devastating. Yet we get a glimps of the person within, struggling to break free, to breathe freely again, to love...

I loved the glimps of the past you get with this book, although the past was painfull, it made reading the present events & situations, more understandable. Also the inclusion of the characters from book 1, seeing how they were handling things, how everyone was going, was an added bonus.

In true Max Henry fashion, she's written about this dark, distressing subject & molded it to her design. Sharing with the reader the struggles, the up's & down's, the self doubt... the cocoon the character/s wrap around themselves, just to get through their lives & what it takes to break free. Please NEVER stop writting Max, because I never want to stop reading your masterpieces. (sound familiar?? hehehehe) Bring on book 3!!

The Butcher Boys are fast becoming one of my favourite new series to read, these men and women are strong and passionate, having hurt in their past and we see them find love, redemption, forgiveness, family and beauty.

We again see Malice and Jane (whom I adored in Butcher Boys #1) however this story is about his dad Vince and a lady called Sonya who also has past hurts and how they help heal each other. I loved how Sonya was 44 and grappled with the notice she is still attractive considering she has locked herself away emotionally for the past years. Together they both stop listening to the little Devil on their backs and believe the Angel that they are worthy of new love and it's okay to move on.

This story flowed really well, the emotion of these two characters was believable as we are taken from the past to the present. I found myself at the end of book 1 not particularly enamoured with Vince as Malice was my champion after rescuing Jane but after learning of how Malice's mum passed I wanted his dad to have his son back but also find love again and not be lonely.

We learn more about Malice and Vince's history, we also now see more of King, Carlos and the other characters and witness old love, new love and attractions evolving which means more books!

The interesting part of this series so far is that we are being given hints of information that will link to the next books of the series so we can find out more details. The suspenseful side stories around the biker club and drug deals are being subtley intwined with the romance and stories of new love and second chances - My god I love these Butcher Boys!!

I really liked that this book is about an older couple. I loved that it was their second chance at love and life. I really would have liked more of an end to Vince and Sonya. Married. Maybe a baby. Just being an old lady just didn't seem like a finish for them. I would have given this 5 stars except their story just didn't seem finished. Very good book other than that.
