Take A Chance On Me (A NOLA Heart Novel Book 2) Kindle Edition
Nathan Danvers has cultivated a certain, sexy reputation among the ladies in New Orleans. As a former marine and current detective for the New Orleans P.D., Nathan is just fine with being the guy women take home to bed, but not the guy they take home to meet the parents. It’s exactly what he wants--until he spots the black-haired beauty, Jade.
Jade Harper is over men. After four years too many with her ex, she’s ready for a fresh start. Goodbye Miami; hello New Orleans. Everything is perfect, including her new job with the NOPD--until she meets Nathan Danvers. Jade isn’t looking for Mr. Right--hell, she’s not even looking for Mr. Right Now--but this hot cop has a way of blurring the lines between lust and love.
Will he tempt her to take a chance? Or will the shadows lingering in Nathan's dark eyes prove that some closely guarded secrets are better left hidden?
TAKE A CHANCE ON ME is the perfect blend of sexy rom-com and edge-of-your-seat intrigue. It features an unconventional workplace romance, quirky characters, sexy-times that will have you fanning your face, all against the sultry backdrop of New Orleans. One hot cop and a HEA guaranteed!

- Reviewed in Australia on 23 June 2017Verified PurchaseTake a chance on Take a chance on me - I guarantee that you won’t regret it. As with the previous book in the NOLA series, I found it difficult to put down – and read it in one session. In fact, I saw the sun come up before the last page was turned.
From the very first moment this book grabbed my attention and simply never let go. This is Jade and Nathan’s story – with an occasional touch upon Shaelyn and Brady, who were featured in the first book of this series, Say You’ll be Mine.
Ms Luis has once again proven herself to be an author with the knack of writing strong, sexy and totally believable characters whose banter offers many a laugh out loud moment – and in this instance, all whilst solving a puzzling murder case; Nathan being a Detective and Jade a Crime Scene Technician.
A definite keeper.
- Reviewed in Australia on 20 June 2019Verified PurchaseLoved Danvers in the previous book, he was an hilarious troublemaker with his frou-frou drinks. In this book we got to see behind the curtain at how strong he was and what a dark past he had come from. Jade was sweet yet fiesty and fun. Her funny, honest straight style was a perfect match for Danvers.
Funny cast and entertaining read.
- Reviewed in Australia on 27 June 2019Verified PurchaseNathan and Jade’s story is incredible, sweet, sassy and funny. There relationship is so compelling and the chemistry oh the chemistry so good. This story is everything a great romance should be and then some.
- Reviewed in Australia on 21 June 2017Meet Jade she is a feisty crime lab technician who is really not as predictable as she thinks! Then there is Detective Danvers, "Don't worry, L-T. I'll be sure to show her the time of her life."
Take A Chance On Me is a flirty and fun cop story set in New Orleans. It is the second story in the Maria Luis Nola Heart Novels but you can totally read it as a standalone.
I really enjoyed reading about Jade & Danvers fledgling love with some crime injected to add to the spice.
I was very excited to receive a free ARC of this book to review and can't wait for another NOLA Heart Novel.

5.0 out of 5 stars 🍹 Sass, Attitude, Heat and Humor! 🍹
Verified PurchaseIn the second book of the NOLA Heart series we get to know Nathan Danvers, a detective with the New Orleans Police Department and Jade, a new hire with the department’s crime scene unit. By his boss, who is also good friends with Jade’s father, Danvers is tasked with showing Jade around town but keeping his hands off of her. Well, you know how well that usually works out. When Danvers needs Jade’s help solving a homicide and they start working closely together, things begin to heat up between the two of them.
Nathan Danvers is a hero who sneaks his way into your heart and makes himself at home, and you find yourself loving every minute of it. He’s a strong, cocky, funny alpha with a softer, more vulnerable side. He’s not irreparably damaged, but perhaps more of a man with some badly set in wrinkles that need smoothing out. Jade has her own set of issues as she works to find her place in the world and be more confident in the wonderful woman she truly is. I loved both of these characters and enjoyed watching their development and growth as the story progressed. This author has an uncanny ability to coax and tease the reader along, craftily doling out bits and pieces of critical information, planting seeds of ideas without blatantly stating anything until just the right time in the story’s progression.
An excellent follow up to Say You’ll Be Mine, Take A Chance On Me has just as much sass, attitude, humor and chemistry to offer hours of reading enjoyment. You’ll laugh out loud, you’ll be delightfully entertained, you’ll have your heart tugged, and you’ll have that warm sense of satisfaction at the end of the book. Ms. Luis is one of the most remarkable new authors I’ve seen in a long time and her work is a rewarding, fulfilling read! Not only that, but every time you see a tiny drink umbrella, you’ll fondly remember Nathan Danvers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it
Verified PurchaseThese two were hot together ! Had amazing adventures in and out of the bedroom. My only 👎 would be the cover doesn't do it justice, but it is still a great book and can't wait to read more about Luke and Anna in the next book.

4.0 out of 5 stars I took a chance and enjoyed the story.
Verified PurchaseTake a Chance on Me brought two damaged souls together so they could heal as one. Jade always felt predictable and never good enough. Nathan had ghosts from his past that prevented him from letting people in. But it just showed that when it is the right person, predictability goes out the door and the walls come tumbling down. I liked Jade and Nathan. The story that brought Jade and Nathan together was somewhat predictable. There was chemistry between Nathan and Jade. Still when things heated up it appeared that the author was a little embarrassed to write about their passion. Very anticlimactic for the reader but of what Jade would say to her sisters and friends it didn't appear that way to her.
My biggest dislike of the story writing is the use of Spanish terms of endearment and phrases. I don't speak Spanish and it is difficult to read a story when frustration builds because did she call him a stud or a son of a bitch. I would have to stop and look it up if I wanted the real translation.
