Detoured by Love Kindle Edition
His lengthy resume of Heisman Trophy winner, number one draft pick and highest paid player isn’t all that impressive. The fact his chiseled jaw and mesmerizing blue eyes have probably made him Mr. Popularity from the age of five isn’t going to work on me. Not when I have goals—goals that don’t include finding myself on an all pro-football heartthrobs checklist.
Carly Lincoln is different.
I could go on and on about her dark wavy curls, her pouty pink lips, or her whiskey-on-the-rock eyes that reveal her truest desires. The fact she’s not impressed by my sports superstar aura like most women makes her worth more than a fling. But this year is my last shot at glory after crumbling to a mere mortal on the game’s biggest stage. My focus needs to be on the ring, not making Carly’s no’s turn to yes’s.
Carly and Bryant’s paths are about to collide, and they better be prepared to fight for what matters most because life’s paths aren’t all sunshine and winding roads.

With the encouragement of her family, she finally sat down and wrote one of the many stories that have been floating around in her head. When she isn't reading or writing, she can be found playing with her kids, talking to her mom on the phone, or hanging out with her family and friends. But after chasing around two preschools all day, she always cherishes her relaxation time after putting the kids to bed.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 9 February 2017Detoured by Love begins with plenty of seduction and flirty banter courtesy of Bryant and a Carly add to that a romantic and beautiful setting... what more could you want.
Bryant and Carly only had a couple of days together but it was enough to make an impact on each other, so much so that once home they couldn't stop thinking about each other especialy Bryant, he was quite smitten.
It doesn't take long before their paths crossed again and that gives Bryant the perfect opportunity to pick up where he left off or so he thinks.
The storyline begins to draw you in as Bryant and Carly start to get closer however Carly is a little hesitant for reasons we are not to sure about yet. We know it's partly due to Bryant being who he is, what with his career and what comes with that but there is something else that is holding Carly back.
Carly and Bryant have both been affected by life altering situations, they have both suffered loss and add to the fact that Carly has already had a
disappointing outcombe with a previous relationship.. it's changed her view on the way she lives her life whether it be work or love.
As the storyline continues so does Bryant's efforts and Carly is taking it all in her stride but there are the usual people and situations that try to come between them and this causes the usual angst and concerns plus their time together is running out due to Bryant having to head back to what he does best.
All is well and as Carly prepares for what she thinks will be a possible career promotion and Bryant starts to prepare for his return to his team and camp, apart from the disappointment of being apart from each other they have come to terms with it and will make it work.
You wish that was all they had to worry about, the mention of Carly having her bloods taken had been mentioned a couple of times and this makes you feel a little anxious for some reason. Well, you couldn't have predicted the outcombe from those blood results.
From this very moment this story takes on a more serious and very different approach. Carly's life turns upside down, gone is the light hearted banter and thinking the biggest thing they had to worry about was how they were going to survive being apart from each other...
Its a bolt out of the blue and a shock to everyone and as Carly struggles to come to terms with her diagnosis Bryant struggles to do the right thing, you can already feel Carly shutting down and pushing Bryant away and with Bryant supposedly heading back to his career... the timing couldn't have been worse and you know exactly what Carly is going to do.
Michelle Lynn knows all to well what Carly is going through because she herself was dealt this terrible blow if not worse.. you just don't know what people are going through.
You could never have guessed that this author would be writing about and incorporating her own experience such as this in one of her very own stories.
This is a story that started out fun and flirty but ended up turning into something so much more and Michelle Lynn always tells her stories beautifully and Detoured by Love is no exception and as the ending approached you could only aganise over what was to come.
Thankfully the ending worked out for everyone I loved it when Carly went out onto the pitch to claim her man! even Bryant's father was onboard. I loved the epilogue.. big smiles all round.
Thank you Michelle Lynn..
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 19 December 2016I absolutely loved this.....I thought it would be another typical sports romance but it was so much more. My heart ached for both Carly and Bryant several times throughout the book. There were several emotional events occuring durujng the book these were handled in such a sensitive but realistic way. I fell in love with this story and will gladly recommend it.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. Thank you for the privilege.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 16 December 2016Michelle Lynn is a new author to myself, I really fell in love her characters and her writing. Whilst working Carly doesn’t expect to find herself attracted to someone, never mind a guy who saves the life of the guy she is working for. He is hot as hell and as much as she tries to say se is not attracted to him, she can’t help but feel the pull.
Bryant, a well-known athlete, lives in the spotlight, lives for the spotlight. Can Carly ever fit in with that world does she even want to?
I really look forward to reading more books by this author. It is definitely worth a read.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 11 November 2016I really enjoyed this, although it was a little slow to start. It actually turned into a really interesting story. That did hook me in and became a very different story than the one I was expecting. As for the two main characters Bryant and Carly they were both really likable and I loved the relationship that developed between the pair. As for the actual story it had a few hot moments and started out quite sweet but during the last third turned very emotional. Thanks to a huge curveball, but for me that curveball is what made this story and I would happily recommend it to others. As it really is an extremely enjoyable standalone novel.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 13 November 2016I love Michelle Lynn's books and this is definitely not a secret. So i knew straight away that this was going to be amazing!
Bryant is your typical jock, or is he? He isn't all that he seems and he hates the spotlights and the stereotypes. Carly is career driven and independent so when she meets Bryant she is thrown off. The chemistry between these two characters is electric and as the story progresses you see just how much they love one another.
I must admit, it wasn't all I thought it was going to be but my goodness it was amazing. I loved the raw and honesty of this story and loved that Michelle Lynn felt she had to share it with us as it is so personal to her.
Bravo on another awesome book ma'am <3

5.0 out of 5 stars Not your Average Second Chance Love story! Its BEYOND EPIC! ITS POWERFUL! ITS TRULY A BEAUTIFUL EYE OPENER!!!!!!
This was not your typical second chance love story. This story is about survival, sacrifice, regret and ultimately about love. The characters in this story will have you up in arms and you might even shed a few tears like I did. The best part about this story is that the alpha male reformed never gave up and knew without a doubt who is true love was and what their future should be. It’s not all it’s cracked up to be, and sometimes you have to walk away to give the other person time to realize that living without your other half is not an option. Sometimes loving someone is not an option, it’s not a choice, its destined to be and your heart gets pulled in a direction you have no clue where the journey will take you. Yet, it’s the steps that you take during that journey that helps you heal in ways you never thought you were cracked or broken. This story will keep you wanting more and wishing the characters all the best and going along their journey to find their happiness.
Carly the ultimate corporate travel agent that gets to accompany her guests on luxury vacations and experience exotic places. However, even being in paradise doesn’t mean that you’re truly happy. Carly loves her job and that is what eventually pushed her to walk away at the alter 3 years ago. She chose her job over love and family. She wanted it all, she wanted the job, love and babies and a great husband. Sometimes life is altered in ways you never imagine and she was pulled in another direction.
Meeting Bryant was beyond what she had in store for her trip with the Fullers. The mysterious man that jumped in the water to save her client also happens to be a pro football player on vacation nursing a knee injury. Carly is shocked when she feels things she never thought were possible. And just when Carly thought she was finally going to get an opportunity to get to know this man, hes gone. Left without a word. Can she really feel something for someone who she thought felt the same way and then gets up and leaves without even a goodbye?
Running into Carly on his vacation was out of the box and something Bryant never expected to come across. Her beauty was one thing but the push and pull between them, he had never experienced that with a woman before. A connection. This was different from any other woman he has ever met and that’s saying a lot. Bryant hopes with the chance to work with the charity the Fullers set up, he can run into Carly again and truly get to know this amazing woman.
The journey these two take is a rough ride and sometimes not even love is enough. Sometimes, love has to be sacrificed in order to protect someone and give them privacy.
This was a beautiful and epic love story. The meaning behind the story was even more beautiful. I commend the author and her journey into creating something with magic out of a situation that could sometimes hold a person back. This was beyond one of the best stories I have read this year. I wish I could give it 10 STARS. EPIC EPIC EPIC!

4.0 out of 5 stars A sweet detour to take
This was not my first Michelle Lynn novel, but it was definitely my favourite! It is the story of Carly and Bryant, two career-driven people who do not want to sacrifice their ambitions for love. However, despite the best laid plans, they meet, they like, and fall in love. You think you know what the big conflict is going to be, but then Michelle Lynn throws in another layer of complexity, which really gets to the heart of how these two people feel about one another.
It's a sweet novel with an HEA. I would certainly recommend it to anyone who wants a simple love story that doesn't have a lot of unnecessary drama.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful and so well written!!!
I can’t believe I’ve never read this author before! Mrs. Lynn’s storytelling and writing really worked for me, so I really have to try her other books in the near future. "Detoured by Love" was one of the best adult romance I’ve read this year. Needless to say, Mrs. Lynn really impressed me with this one. The story was fantastically written, gripping and held me at the edge of my seat the entire time for many reasons. "Detoured by Love" was equally heartbreaking and heartwarming, engaging from start to finish and had a little bit of everything.
For Carly, her job, besides her family, means everything. She’s a corporate travel agent and loves what she does for a living very much. She doesn’t have no one to answer to and no one who expects things from her and she loves it this way. She’s hardworking and independent and she’s not looking for love, a relationship or even a fling, believing she can’t have a successful career and love at the same time. On top of that, she’s very close to get a promotion so she doesn’t want to screw everything up with a relationship interference. On a beach in the Carribean, Carly meets a cocky stranger who fascinates her like no other man she met before. The stranger is no one other than the superstar NFL quarterback Bryan Garrity, who like Carly is intrigued from the very beginning. Bryan is in the Carribean trying to recover after an injury. Needless to say, he needs a break more than ever. He’s not looking for a relationship, but he must admit Carly is the first woman in a long time who intrigues him.
While neither of these two are looking for a relationship, they can’t deny the strong attraction between them and what starts eventually as a fling slowly, but surely becomes so much more for both of them.
I really enjoyed my first read by this author. Th story was very addictive, well written, entertaining and very easy to read. I enjoyed the storyline a lot and I liked the fact that it had a little bit of everything. The story was fun and light for a good part, but also angsty and emotional. I didn’t find the story to be utterly emotional or dramatic, but I have to say I didn’t expect the story to progress the way it did. Needless to say, Carly and Bryant’s story was one of the most refreshing sports romance I’ve read so far.
Carly and Bryant were wonderful characters. Both of them were endearing and so very well developed. I really liked how well their backgrounds were developed and how well we get to know them as the story unfolds. I liked Carly. She was fun and overall an endearing character, but I have to admit that Bryant stole the show for me. He was great hero from start to finish and I absolutely loved the way he was with our heroine and his dedication towards her. Since I don’t want to give anything away about them, I can’t say anything else. The relationship between these two was wonderful and progressed in such an authentic, fantastically way. Nothing between these two was rushed, there wasn’t any miscommunication between them and the entire time they acted like adults which I enjoyed.
All in all, "Detoured by Love" was a wonderful read that I highly recommend if you are looking for a sweet, emotional read with two mature, endearing characters, engaging story line and fantastic writing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Complex, surprising, sexy and heartfelt.
“If it were me, what would you do?”
“I’d love you through it.”
Feels. That is what I am experiencing right now. ALL OF THEM.
Detoured by Love, you guys… it’s one of the best books I’ve read this year—and I have read some amazing books in 2016.
I’m sitting here, trying my best not to flail, and also trying to control my shaking hands, because I just finished and I want everyone to read this book. It was complex, surprising, sexy, and deep. It made my heart race and brought tears to my eyes. It made me smile and laugh and swoon.
It made me happy, even as it made me sad.
This book didn’t go the way I expected it to. The first part of the book was light and happy—a well-developed and playful relationship between Bryant and Carly that had me rooting for them almost immediately. But as we edged closer to the end, it took a turn.
A heartbreaking, emotional turn. It wasn’t something I saw coming, and Michelle Lynn—whose books always seem to turn me into a raving, crazy fangirl—handled it with grace and compassion. I wish I had adequate words for how it made me feel, how it made my whole body react. Actually, I wish I could read it again from the very start, and experience everything with fresh eyes.
This book was incredible. The pace was on-point, and the characters and their reactions felt so very real to me—almost like I could reach out and touch them, comfort them. The banter was flirty when it needed to be, and the swoon from the oh, so irresistible Bryant Garrity was high.
And the feels? They were all there. Every single one of them. And that is what makes this one my favorite books of 2016.
“I’m just wondering, have all your firsts been taken?”
“Everything with you is a first for me.”
~ FIVE Pitter-Patter STARS ~
- HopefulReviewed in the United States on 22 January 2017
3.0 out of 5 stars Warning Next Time Please
Spoilers! Spoilers!
Okay here's why I gave it a 3 star rating. Truthfully, I would have loved a little warning by the author regarding a life long health issue and how emotional gut wrenching it was. I get the review someone states it has "all the feels" and I usually love that sort of thing but this goes beyond that. I am by no means making light of what Carly has for life or the author herself, I too suffer from a life long health issue, not what Carly and the author suffer from but something else and yes it's forever since I was 14 and now I'm 48. The author being private, I get it, so am I to the point I don't have a Facebook and belong to very few blogs because I wish to limit what I share. I just would have liked a little heads up with some background before I purchased it. Honestly, because I just finished reading an incredible read Egomaniac, laugh out loud, great, incredible story, sad at times too but we knew it going in and I wasn't in the mood to be so down with Detoured By Love, not wanting to cry that much! It's one thing knowing going in, another to be surprised by it. It's tragic, life altering just as it is in real life (like the author). Yes, there was a HEA but it took a lot of angst getting there and I mean A LOT!
With that said, another issue is the twin towers 9/11 issue. Tragic? You betcha, I lived it. My husband was a first responder, worked at ground zero and the landfill for 9 months straight sifting thru what was left of the buildings for teeth, bones anything with DNA to help families find closure. We also lost friends and co-workers (NYPD) that day and years later from rare forms of cancer. My husband suffers with COPD from it. The book, I just didn't get the feel of emotion as I did from Carly's sickness and it's probably just me but that day and for many years was devastatingly hard and still is. I've read many books, romance books to be truthful, that mention it but go into it with more detail as if they were there or knew someone personally, did their homework and were right on the money drawing emotion with the topic. I needed that because it is very personal to me being from NY.
Lastly, I didn't like that Jonathan and Monica never met personally with Carly as it was brought up many times. Especially the hype of what Monica says is golden and she gives him advice all the time with of course her approval. I mean the meeting on the field? Rushed, it needed more. Having Renee meet him first because her son loved Jonathan so much? Nope, not right, at least in the epilogue have them meeting or a dinner with the four of them getting along so well but it was a rushed ending and skipped over. I don't like when something is mentioned many times, plans were made and cancelled, tragedy happens but then there's a HEA but something that was important and raised throughout doesn't happen or isn't mentioned again all of a sudden. Then why bring it into the story at all?
If I had been going into this with full knowledge of the gut wrenching heart ache I'd give this 4 stars. First because I love, love, love football. Thursdays, Sundays and Mondays I set my schedule around games, I have 5 sons and we all love it so it drew me in to the story. The one star left off is only because of the 9/11 depth, I needed it to be more emotional not just skimmed over as if it was an everyday occurrence. The story itself, Carly and Bryant's romance, they were both a beautiful hero and heroine. Some found her weak, a doormat but I say the opposite, she knew what she wanted and wasn't compromising for no man, not Dean or Bryant and stood by that decision until she got sick and had to decide where her priorities belonged. She told Bryant her convictions from day 1 and stuck by them, she didn't alter them and if she thought he was trying to she let him have it. She wasn't whiney, she was strong, resilient and dealt with the changes in her life as anyone else would if that curveball was thrown their way (shock, pessimistic, devastation). Bryant, Bryant, Bryant, what a sweetheart! The perfect hero, supportive to a fault, unselfish and imperfectly handsome. I love how even though he's a quarterback, detailed as gorgeous, he also has a crooked nose and a scar on his chin. His love was unconditional and forever. He was willing to give up everything for her and once she realized that, wow! Her family, loved them. I love how they would eavesdrop. They were so warm, welcoming and honest but not overbearing. Everyone but her dad accepted Bryant with open arms. Her dad had legitimate reasons for not but he came around. Matty, so much fun. I loved how they practiced him to say something to Bryant, treated him like an everyday person not like the superstar that he was.
Cliffhanger, no. Hero and heroine, beautiful, strong, resilient, insecure in some ways, sure but no more or less than realistically. Cheating, no. HEA yes but it took a long and gut wrenching time to get there.
