The Bodyguard (The Gafanelli Mob series Book 1) Kindle Edition

3.9 out of 5 stars 921 ratings

BISHOP
I’m not the good guy in this story.

Technically, I’m the bad one.

Because men who kidnap their wives aren’t exactly ushered to the front gates of Heaven.

And the fact that she doesn’t even remember me?
Well, that just ensures my one-way ticket to Hell.

My one saving grace: I’ll do anything to make sure my wife Dani is safe after the attack that left her without a memory.

I’ll lie. I'll steal. I’ll kill.

In fact, I’ll have to.

Because bad guys aren’t supposed to get happy endings.

And if I don’t save my precious Dani from this next attack, neither will she…

AUTHOR’S NOTE: The Bodyguard is a steamy suspenseful romance and is part of a series of full-length novels in the
Gafanelli Mob series. It contains foul-mouthed characters, lots of twists and plenty of heat. If any of these doesn’t sound like your type of story, please do not read.

Wow a good book. In the mafia in New York now. Donovan the protector and Dani, the heir, marry. They are being chased but by whom. FBI, mafia or a bent senator. A book full of mystery that is solved chapter by chapter. Well worth a read.

Amazed at the rave reviews left by others. It is almost as though we had read 2 totally different books. Lots of unnecessary use of the F word. The sex scenes weren't particularly interesting.I really did not like this authors style of writing. She kept alternating between telling the story from Bishops point of view to Dani's which was fair enough. But she also kept switching locations and also trying to convince you one minute that somebody was one of the good guys and in the next breath that he was one of the baddies. Because there was no depth to the plot or any of the characters there was no suspense either. Just confusion as to who was doing what or why. In the end I was just bored with the whole thing. The only reason I gave it 2 stars and not just 1 is because I did actually read it to the end.

I found this book totally puzzling and not sure it was by design or an unhappy accident. I failed to warm to the characters and the story line bounced a little too much for my liking. I almost gave up at 70% of the way through but dug my heels in and read to the end. It all ended pretty anti-climactic and I didn't feel the suspense in the way I am sure the author hoped. This was a free book from Amazon.

This was an interesting story. The heroine has amnesia and must decide whether to trust her “husband”.

Plenty of twists, steamy romance and suspense.

4.0 out of 5 stars Perdita di memoria
Reviewed in Italy on 18 March 2018

5.0 out of 5 stars Sexy, Suspenseful, and Just Fun Enough
Reviewed in the United States on 29 September 2016
This is a really fun, exciting, suspenseful story!
Dani wakes up without a memory but with a hot and mysterious husband and strange men wanting to kill her. She has to piece together what happened and what she's going to do before she ends up dead. That's the basic synopsis. I don't want to say any more because a lot of the fun of this story is going on Dani's journey of discovery of WHO and WHAT she was before her memory loss. Let's just say Dani has had a really interesting life, and her husband Bishop is a big part of that.
Bishop is a great hero. Or antihero? Because sometimes he's a jerk. But he's so motivated by his love for Dani that you can't help love him. He's also so dreamy and his chemistry with Dani is smoking.
You won't put this book on your top favorite books of all time. It's a popcorn book, a book you read to enjoy and have fun during, but one that won't necessarily stick with you. That's okay. I love popcorn books. Fool's Gold is recommended for anyone who wants to spend a few hours in a different, sexy, suspenseful world that's still ultimately light and fun.

Heads up: my release version contained two novellas (that had to be read in order) as a bonus. This means the actual Fool's Gold story ends at 55% in. Just thought people would like to know!

Wow! What a powerful first chapter! Lots of intrigue, twists and turns to keep you guessing and rereading certain chapters trying to figure things out. I LOVE all the mystery and suspense which has kept me up reading until the wee hours of the morning. But Hey! Who needs sleep, eh?
This is my first book by Natalie Wrye and I absolutely loved it. I will definitely be checking out her other books.
