Temporary Bliss

Rate this book
Makenna Lewis cringes at any mention of the word commitment. She doesn’t want or need a relationship, but she does like sex (who doesn't).

That explains Noah, Sean, and Zander, her three 'friends with benefits'.

They know the score, they know they're not the only one, and each of them provide her with a different physical need that she craves and enjoys.

Until a late night encounter with the delicious Daniel Winters turns her preconceived notion of no-commitment completely on its head.

Soon she finds herself feeling things she vowed never to feel again, and when Daniel pushes for more than she’s willing to give, she falters.

What do you do when something that you’ve known to be so wrong in the past feels so damn right?

If you’re Mac, you run and hide.

But is Daniel the type of man who takes no for an answer?

*Disclaimer - There is absolutely no cheating in this book. However, this book does contain descriptive and super hot sex scenes that will make you blush and leave you hot and bothered. Make sure you have your husband, partner, boyfriend or significant other nearby when reading, or else batteries. Lots and lots of batteries*

4 ALL ABOUT DANIEL STARS.

description

A weakness for any romance book I devour is the, will they won't they? factor and this book has just that and a whole lot more. A few good reviews and blurb that sounded right up my street had me racing to amazon to hook my kindle up with this treat and I didn't take one look back. Here are my thoughts ...

What's it all about?
Makenna 'Mac' Lewis fell crashing into love with her high school sweetheart unfortunately for this love stuck beauty this love turned sour and she found herself in a relationship that left her on course for heartbreak. After finding the strength to break away from the past she makes a firm vow to herself that never again will she allow her life to be dictated to by a man and she will never let love lead her heart astray. Four years later and a trio of hot hook up's under her belt (and in her sheets) Mac still lives firmly by this lifestyle and is happy to continue in her happy pursuit of the next orgasm rather than the pursuit of love. But Mac never counted on meeting Daniel Winters, a dreamy man package that may just be the right one to change Mac's mind and cause her to break all kinds of rules. 'Temporary bliss' is a heartwarming and comical story of a self confessed relationship-phobe and the possibility of falling for the most swoon worthy man she has ever encountered, in turn giving love a second chance. But that means letting go of the past and giving away her heart, Mac needs the strength to love again and Daniel wants to be the man to love her.

What did I love?
This author managed to find a great blend of heartfelt and a gorgeous twist of comical. I loved the easy reading style of the book and I found the characters delightfully entertaining. I enjoyed the twist of the untrusting heroine and heartwarming hero and I was convinced about the stories premise. You may think this book has a love triangle/cheating type theme to it, in actual fact it doesn't but it does have one feisty, filthy heroine who likes to explore the possibility of running away from real love and jumping head first into 'friends with benefits' hook up's, she was an absolute riot to read about I loved her cheeky, witty ways and as the book progressed I fell for her story. The author cleverly and sensitively covered Mac's past in the prologue so all that was left to do was enjoy seeing her go from protecting her heart to giving it away to the delectable Daniel. Hmm Daniel he is most definitively a character worth writing home about, sexy on the outside and swoony on the in, I loved how he won over our damaged heroine, readers look forward to loving yet another scrumptious hero. There is definitely more than a spark between these characters, those that know me are well aware that I love sexual chemistry and this book screams of it - hurrah! From beginning to end everything entertained my reading tastes and I'll most definitely be looking out for more from this obviously talented author.

Why not five?
I know there is nothing new under the sun and I'm a fan of predictably so it definitely wasn't that, I think maybe I needed a little less drama towards the end, I felt I lost a little love for the heroine. but overall I don't feel at all negative about this book, it just didn't have the complete five star feeling.

Final thoughts ...
Do you want a quick, sexy NA fix? Then you won't go far wrong with this authors story. 'Temporary bliss' is everything I needed for an escape into a steamy romance novel and as a bonus I fell in love with some new characters too. Need more convincing? Check out other reviews this seems to be a winner all over Good read's ... Go grab it readers, kisses.

This is one of those curl up on the couch on a rainy day, don’t want to get up to eat, read ‘til you finish kind of books. As soon as I started Temporary Bliss I was hooked. I had a big goofy grin on my face, this book just made me feel good. I loved it.

At twenty years old, Makenna aka “Mac” lost herself in a bad relationship. Scarred but determined to always be independent, she makes a vow to herself that she will never let a man dictate her life again. She doesn’t do relationships, doesn’t date, and is completely content with her friends with benefits arrangement she has with Zander, Sean, and Noah.
What’s to complain about? If I see what I want, I go after it. I learned a long time ago that life is too short to wait around for good things to happen to you. You have to be proactive with this sort of thing.

Aside from our physical relationships, I’m friends with all three of them. Each man provides me with a different physical need that I crave and desire; that sometimes I just want. But I’m not a slut, and I’m not easy. I don’t have the emotional connection to sex that a lot of other women do. I have three men that I have mutually beneficial, no strings attached, physical relationships with. We’re all safe, and we all know the exact nature of our relationship.

One night she meets a stranger on the train. There is definitely an intense attraction between her and Daniel. From night one they had a banter and chemistry that was undeniable. They are extremely straightforward with each other, with sexual quips and jokes flying left and right. It’s all very entertaining and exciting from the get go.

As Mac and Daniel start spending more time together, she begins to realize that this is different. This is unlike any relationships she’s had in the past. But will she let her vow get in her way of happiness with Daniel?

This definitely brought on the swoon, but it's also incredibly funny. The humor in this is fantastic. Mac’s inner monologue’s were hysterical. The teasing between all the characters was perfection.

Mac is awesome, strong, and hilarious. She has some learning to do, but once she realizes it, she’s all over it. Daniel is amazing. Seriously, AH-MAY-ZING! He’s charming, sexy, confident, but also completely genuine and sincere in his intentions. He’s probably one of the most well rounded, lovable book boyfriends I’ve encountered because even though he’s pretty much perfect, he’s still interesting and fun. Then there’s Mac’s men, all completely lovable in their own ways. I of course can’t forget Kate, Mac’s best friend. She’s a little firecracker, but she’s much more traditional than Mac. I loved their bond and how silly and honest they were. There was no sugar coating or mincing words but they always had each others backs.
Mac, you can’t keep it up forever you know.”
“It works for me.”
“You’re easy.”
“I’m not easy. I’m free spirited.”
“Free spirited with your body.”

“Mac, you need to tell Inner Mac to put her big girl panties on and suck it up.”

I loved how this book features a girl who has the commitment issues. She had a tragedy in her past, but she isn’t in this dark place, she’s still upbeat and the story always had a positive feeling about it. It’s so common for a guy to be a player and for girls to be all swoony over him, but when a girl does the same, she’s a slut. Mac’s arrangement didn’t irk me in the slightest. It’s all very out in the open, there’s no lying, no cheating, and I really thought it was pulled off perfectly.

This is a sexy, sexy book with lots of laughs, some feels, and freaking awesome characters. The writing is easy to sink into, the story is fast paced, and I completely fell in love.

2.5 STARS.

It began rather interesting but ended up being worse and worse. I did not like the female lead - found her annoying and simply unlikable. I wanted to strangle her most of the time.

The plot was nearly non-existant. I can sum it up in three paragraphs - 24 year old woman got in a bad relationship in the past, and doesn't want to get emotionally attached to men because she doesn't want anyone to control her life anymore. As a result, she has 3 sexy 'friends with benifits' or 'fuck buddies' that could not differ from each other more, and provide her with everything she needs...sexually & emotionally.
In enter a hot stranger she meets in the L, that will destroy the walls she put around herself, and make her see that bliss doesn't have to be temporary.

I found the story to be cliche and nothing interesting happened. If you take away the sex scenes, all the times the MC couldn't make up her mind and was being pethetic, you would perhaps find 10 pages of a book left.

BORING.BORING.BORING.

Don't even get me started on the ending.

I love this book! It’s funny, dirty and romantic with a confident, sassy heroine and four very fine guys to drool over. Are you hooked yet?

Makenna (Mac) hit rock bottom four years ago, escaping an abusive relationship, and made a vow to herself that she would live her own life. She would never let a man control her, and never get close enough to one for that to even become a possibility. She has three fuck buddies - each meeting a different need for her, and each very aware of the other and how things are, and totally accepting of that. It’s all very functional. Mac is comfortable with who she is, and she absolutely owns her “no strings slutdom”.

And then she meets Daniel - a “smoking hot volcano of fine”. Daniel unexpectedly comes into Mac’s life and completely turns it upside down. The two of them have some INSANE chemistry, and the smutty flirting flies thick and fast.

Holy smut, this book is smutty! The things that come out of their mouths had me blushing! And this is before they even get together! I love subtle banter, but these two are full on with the sexy talk! But it totally works for them, and builds the UST fabulously, and it turns out that their verbal smut is just a prelude to a whole lot of actual smut. Dayum!

And it’s not just Daniel-related smut. Mac also reminisces about her experiences with each of her ‘buddies’. While reading it, I thought it was a little weird to be reading a romance book and have the heroine reminiscing about her steamy encounters with her three fuck buddies – in detail. But it’s Mac, it’s who she is, and it gives the reader insight into why she lives the way she does. Plus, when she opens up to Daniel – “Shit! I need to tell him about the other penises in my life” - it gives him the opportunity to step up and be made of awesome and be everything he can be for her.

“But it has only been three weeks,” I whisper.
“Three fucking good weeks, gorgeous. Three weeks that make me want to see this through.”

“I will tell you this, Mac. I’m going to try and be everything you need me to be both in and out of the bedroom because I like seeing you smile. I like seeing you laugh, and I definitely like you when you’re underneath me calling out my name.”

And yep, Daniel is made of awesome! Seriously, the man is pretty much perfect. He is funny and charming, and completely accepting of Mac (I was actually surprised at how accepting he was, but it just goes to show how deeply he feels for her). And alongside the smut, smut, smutty, smut-smut, he is also a gentleman. He has genuine feelings for Mac, and he romances her, he is respectful, and he treats her like a lady for the first time in her life. And it terrifies her.

“Tell me you feel this, gorgeous? Tell me I’m not dreaming this,” he rasps against my temple.
“I’m feeling it, and it’s scaring the shit out of me,” I whisper.

And here comes the stupid. Yep, there has to be stupid. But with the way the story is set up, I was expecting it. Mac freaks out and runs, pushing Daniel away before she gets hurt, or worse, she hurts him. She’s got a whole lot of issues to sort through, and I thought this part of the book was handled really well. I loved watching Mac on her journey, and through it all, Daniel proves that he’s not the kind of man that gives up when he finds something he truly wants.

“Seriously, Mac, I’m in so deep, I’ll take you however I can have you. I’ll wait, however long it takes. If these last few months with you have shown me anything, it’s that you’re meant to be mine. I know that already, fuck, I’ve known it for a while now. I’ve just been waiting for you to catch up.”

What did I tell you? Perfect *dreamy sigh*.

I have to say, despite what you may think about her lifestyle choices, she is seriously lucky with the men she has in her life. Not only Daniel, but her three ‘buddies’, surgeon Noah (“the walking dildo”), Sean (sexy dom) and Zander (sexy stripper). They are all fabulous, caring, respectful guys who are happy with Mac, and honestly want the best for her. I kinda fell for them all. Which is good, considering this is the first book in the series, and I suspect (hope) that we will be seeing more of them in future books. The next book is Kate’s – Mac’s sassy, hilarious, unlucky in love BFF. There is a hint of something happening for her, and if my suspicions are right, I’m really excited to read her story.

I really enjoyed this book. It’s a fast read, and the story moves quickly, and I found that it got better and better and I got more sucked into the story the further I got into it. Mac is a somewhat unique heroine, and while I may not have immediately warmed to her, once I got to know her and understand her more, she very quickly grew on me and I really loved her and her narration. And Daniel is just… *swoon*.

It’s funny, it’s hot, the drama is dealt with well, and the romance is gorgeous. With a few surprises thrown in along the way, an epilogue from Daniel’s POV, and a HEA that is satisfying but still leaving threads undone (to be resolved in the next book I’m sure), I finished this book with a huge grin on my face.

4.5 stars.

*Thank you so much to B.J. Harvey, who provided an ARC in exchange for an honest review*

4 Gorgeous Fell In Love with Superman Stars!!

OMFG........why did I wait so long to read this!! This was a fun, sexy, funny romance. I loved Mac's inner monologue and shit....I just loved Mac. I think we're sisters from another mister....seriously!!!

Mackenna Lewis was in a bad relationship four years ago and sense then she has vowed to never let a man get close to her heart again. In order to make sure this happens, she has "no strings" sex. Dont judge....she's not a whore!! Mac keeps her sextivities to three great guys: Noah, a.k.a. The Walking Dildo, Sean, a.k.a. Mr Dom, and Zander, the hot stripper who will have sex anywhere!! These guys all bring her something different to the bedroom and she's completely satisfied. Alls great in Mac's world until she meets Superman, Daniel Winters, on the L. He comes into her life and everything starts to change. Will Mac be able to give up her three sexy men for one hot guy or will she throw away the best thing that ever happened to her.

I really can NOT wait to read the next two books in this series about the secondary characters. Thanks BJ Harvey for writing such a sexy and funny read!!

Sleeps with 3 men hopping from on bed to another.. nobody cares they are all ok sharing her. I'm gonna pass just like I'd pass if a hero was doing this. Sex for just sex isn't for me..Gotta be feelings and some sort of exclusive commitment. I'm sort of the rare one of my GR friends that expect the same from my heroines as my heroes.

Spoilers here, and a rant. I usually like this author but this right here was just some BS.
No! That's the first word that comes to mind. I hated the h from the 2nd chapter until
The end. Selfish, immature, crass, loose woman who runs from the perfect guy because of something that happened with her 1st boyfriend 4 YEARS AGO! So now she has sex with multiple men, who we get to read about in detail, and treats Daniel like shit. Why he wants her I don't know. He was always too good for her.
Before you get upset, I realize that she had a rough time with the ex, yes I get that. Now, having said that, she has been sleeping around for years and is 4 years older with a nursing job. She is a grown up now and should realize a good man and the potential for a productive and loving relationship with someone who treats her with respect and compassion and is completely faithful to only her. But, of course she shits on him and runs multiple times and someone else has to tell him at 93% that she's pregnant with his child because she is STILL being a cowardly asshole! Frigging 93% of the story and still this BS!?!?? Wtf? No.
Here the worst this, the future books has the men we meet here with other women. Now that we have had to read about them sleeping with Mac how the heck am I going to read about them fling in love with other women? No. Why couldn't they have been 3 random other guys that aren't future Hs??
Idk, not my type of book at all. I wanted to throat punch Mac the whole book, THE WHOLE BOOK! Even the epilogue...she still doesn't want to move in with him because her friend whose a grown woman would be lonely?!?!? What the FUCK is wrong with you???? This is the father of your child and the man you claim to LOVE! What about his feeling??? TSTL. I just hated her, frigging wench. Okay I have to stop now, 2 stars for Daniel but that's it.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Wow. Too many hot men in this book!

Mac has been through a bad relationship and has vowed to never let history repeat itself.

And so she has not 1 but 3 "friends with benefits".

But then she meets Daniel Winters...

This man is seriously swoon worthy, but I'm not suppose to swoon

Their relationship grew with each date and I loved the flirting and teasing.

Until then, I'll have to rename my shower head Daniel and have some fun with him

The writing was fun to read and this is one of those books that I would re-read.

I need to tell him about the other penises in my life

One small thing that always annoys me is heroines who are constantly running away. I will store this small negative away because everything else about the book was perfect!

I cannot wait for Kate's book!!! And maybe more Zander, Sean and Noah.

Before I start on my review I just want to say there is NO Cliffhanger, NO Cheating, a happy ever after and VERY HOT sex scenes!

I just loved this book.
It has a refreshing change of pace and characters that you can't help but fall in love with.
The really rare find with this little gem is that I really liked the female lead. She is smart, sassy and sharp witted.
She isn't a virgin, she's not naive and she knows what she does and doesn't want.
Not only that, she's lucky enough to have 3 friends with benefits.

Noah-WD(Walking Dildo), Zander-The stripper and Sean-Mr Dom. They all know the score, they are all happy about the arrangement and they each give her something that the others can't. Perfect, I hear you say. Yes, well it would be, if it weren't for Superman, I mean Delicious Daniel Winters. Daniel threatens to break Mac's hard resolve to keep things simple. He wriggles his way into her heart when she isn't looking and throws her long standing vow out of the window.

Her vow to not get to close to anyone, ever. Comes from a past hurt, it wounded her so deep that she couldn't bring herself to open her heart again. You get a glimpse of what she went through and it isn't pretty. I didn't blame her one bit for being scared and pushing her barriers way up.

What Mac didn't know, is that Super hero Daniel Winters was about to start lowering her barriers and offering her a shot at love, true love.

Daniel is everything you could ever want in a man. Smart, sexy, intelligent, patient, and is capable of scorching the sheets on a regular basis! He has a dirty mind and a magic mouth. I'm sure if the world leaders were all female we could solve, wars, starvation, and the economy with a flick of that tongue!

"I will tell you this, Mac. I'm going to try and be everything you need me to be both in and out of the bedroom because I like seeing you smile. I like seeing you laugh, and I definitely like you when you're underneath me calling out my name."

My heart swelled at his endearments, I loved how he could love so freely, so deeply. My heart also broke a little for him running uphill all the time.

Mac is obviously running scared, she's so scared of losing her self if she lets her feelings show that she runs every time someone gets close. I wanted to grab her by the shoulders and shake until she saw sense. I completely understood her dilemma though, I respected her for looking out for number 1 and not falling for the first guy she sees, because of all this I wanted her to find her happily ever after, she deserved to find it, she just had to wake up and realise this for herself.

“You’re my forever girl … You always have been, and if I have my way, you always will be.”

A fantastic read, gripping from the first page and holding you there as the writing just flows so easily. This is a perfect Sunday afternoon read, curled up on the sofa with a coffee and a bar of chocolate. You will laugh (BJ Harvey is a funny, funny chick.)Swoon, and maybe even shed a little tear in places. I cannot wait to find out what happens in True Bliss (Bliss #2) Kate and Zanders story. And of course, the others in the book will have their stories too. Sean the Dom is one of my favorites (If you didn't already know) and we have a very interesting interview with him that got me, er, shall we say hot under the collar?! visit http://bookaholics2.blogspot.co.uk to read it!

This is one that I will definitely remember and a Full up 5 Superhero Stars!

Makenna “Mac” fell in love with a stupid boy in school, Beau. When they fell on hard times he was offered a job with his uncle in Ohio and begs Mac to come with him. Even though everyone in her family and friends do not think it’s a good idea, Mac goes anyway. Once there Mac soon finds out that Beau has changed and not in a good way. She finds herself all alone with no money, no friends and is now in an abusive relationship. She’s finally had enough and calls her best friend to ask for help in getting back home to Chicago.

The emotional scars left by the relationship with Beau have jaded Mac towards love. She’s made a vow to herself that she will never let her life be dictated by a man or by love. With this new vow she still has “needs” and so she soon finds herself with three wonderfully handsome “friends with benefits”.

There’s Noah who is a doctor at the same hospital that she works at. He’s also known as “The Walking Dildo.” The nickname alone should tell you why she’s with him. Then there’s Sean, who she affectionately refers to as “Mr. Dom.” He allows her to submit to a man on her terms when she wants to. And last, but not least, is Zander. Zander is a stripper and brings out the “riskier side” of her.

One night on the L train Mac drops her phone. It slides out of her reach and to the feet of a stranger. This is where the new man in her life walks in. When the stranger brings it to her and their eyes meet its instant attraction for both of them. Meet Daniel Winters, the Stockbroker.

Mac and Daniel hit it off from the start. Even Mac’s roommate/bestfriend Kate thinks Daniel could definitely be the one to soften Mac’s heart. Kate is always there to encourage her and listen when she needs to vent.

As Mac and Daniel spend more time together she soon starts to realize that she’s changing her rules for Daniel. Daniel gives her everything the "friends with benefits" gave her and more. She’s walking a fine line down the path of love, but she’s scared and not sure that’s where she wants to be.

“I’m in so deep, I’ll take you however I can have you. I’ll wait, however long it takes.”

The question is will Mac take the chance? Is she ready to give love another try? You will have to read to find out. This was an amazing story, full of laughter, witty comments, sex on the beach and gorgeous men so what’s not to love. Go read it!!

Makenna (Mac) escaped an abusive relationship which you get the full feeling for in the prologue. She vows to live the single life so no man dictates what she does, so the “friends with benefits” is the way she rolls.

Daniel comes along and is the ultimate “BENEFIT”. She had 3 “friends” before, each having their own special talent. But with Daniel he seems to have ALL the talents.

This was a little different storyline and I enjoyed it especially since it was super sexy BUUUUUUUUT, towards the end Mac irritated me which is what kept this at a 4.

Mackenna Lewis has commitment issues, and she has every right to have them too. Having been burned by an emotionally and physically abusive relationship, Mac makes the decision to never again allow a man to dictate to her, nor make her feel less than herself.

‘Walking away from this life, I make a vow to myself; never again will my life be dictated by a man, and never again will I let love lead me astray.’ Mac

Feeling as if she has become the shell of her former self, Mac heads back home and back to the person who knows her best and who knows exactly how to help her over her traumatic experience. And that’s her best friend Kate. And what a pair Mac and Kate are. Seriously, I loved these girls. They were like a tonic to one another – never judging, always supportive and both so much fun.

‘I need to reclaim myself, my identity, my freaking backbone that I used to be known for.’ – Mac

I felt like I wanted to grab a bottle of Tequila, a slice of lime a bit of salt, throw on my PJ’s, curl up on the couch, watch a couple of rom-coms, enjoy some witty banter and basically laugh my tits off with these two best mates. They felt so real that at times, it was more akin to eavesdropping on a real conversation as opposed to merely reading about it.

‘That is the beauty of having a best friend. They’ll walk over hot coals with you; they’ll tell you when you’re being dumb, and they bail you out of trouble, unless they’re sitting right beside you in the cell. ’ – Mac

In the four years since returning home, Mac has met and begun a “friends with benefits‘ relationship with three gorgeous guys, Zander, Sean and Noah and Mac frequently meets up for quick romps and hot sweaty sex with each of these divine men whenever the mood strikes her or them….one on one that is, not all together….although…….hmmmm maybe that’s for another book ;)

All I can say is Mac is one lucky, lucky girl! Each man is the thing fantasies are made of and each provides a different outlet for Mac on a physical and emotional level without the fear of commitment hanging over hers or the guys heads. The situation suits Mac perfectly and everything is peachy until…..the day she claps eyes on Daniel Winters!!

‘Holy shit! I could be in a dark room, blindfolded and bound, and climax from his voice along.’ – Mac

Good grief this man was gawjuss! Not only is he easy on the eye but Daniel is successful, gentle, warm, funny, sexy as sin, with a hint of that alpha possessiveness that drives women wild. In fact, he’s pretty much everything a woman would want in a man. But Mac has another three men in her life – is there room for a fourth? And just maybe…….could Daniel supersede all the others?

‘Shit! I need to tell him about the other penises in my life.’ – Mac

The attraction is instant and so ensues a cat and mouse game of Daniel trying to convince the non-committal Mac that they are perfect together and that a relationship is possible, but Mac needs a lot of convincing. An awful lot of convincing because darn it, that’s not going to cut the mustard with our commitment phobe heroine. What’s a girl to do?

Mac knows Daniel is sincere and isn’t a douche like her ex but Mac is gun shy and it will take a lot for Daniel aka Superman aka Delicious Dan – to convince her otherwise. As deep as Daniel’s feelings are for Mac, he isn’t going to force her hand. Daniel realises this is something Mac needs to work out in her own time, but is Daniel willing to wait around for her?

“Tell me you feel this, gorgeous? Tell me I’m not dreaming this…” -Daniel
“I’m feeling it, and it’s scaring the shit out of me…”
– Mac

I loved the support system Mac had in her family and in Kate. These girls really do share an amazing bond and their antics and interactions were priceless and added so much to this story. I loved their banter and they frequently had me giggling.

I loved Mac as a heroine though I will admit there were times I truly did want to shake her. She exasperated me with her ping pong decisions and actions and I really did feel sorry for Daniel during these times. Don’t get me wrong, I understood why she made the reacted the way she did but that didn’t stop me becoming frustrated with her.

“God, I want to hate you for doing this to us, but I can’t,” he whispers, kissing my forehead one last time before stepping back. “I could never hate you, Mac. That’s why this fucking hurts so much.” - Daniel

I really did enjoy Temporary Bliss. It was like a comfort read for me. You know the ones where you can feel your face forming that constant dopey grin. It had me feeling happiness, sadness and heartbreak and I was captivated! There were times my heart broke for both Daniel and Mac but I have to say, mostly Daniel. I felt Mac’s pain, I felt it when her spirit broke, but I felt Daniel’s conflict and pain immensely even though this is told through Mac’s voice.

“As hard as this is for me to say, don’t come back to me until you figure out what you want and who you want it with because I’m getting sick of watching you walk away.” – Daniel

Mac was such witty and engaging narrator. Her inner musings were at times funny, at times sad, at times frustrating, a tad naughty, but above all, Mac felt so real. She was friendly, warm and relatable. How refreshing it was to have a heroine who was so open about her sexuality and didn’t shy away from the fact that she loved sex without commitment. Mac was like a breath of fresh air.

I absolutely adored the secondary characters and hope we get to hear more from them as I felt had something more to give. I loved spending time with each and every one of them. Loved, loved, loved the epilogue! I did feel as though I wanted to experience more of Daniel and Macs relationship as it did feel a tad rushed at the end. There was much I still wanted to explore – to witness it all first hand, but this could be attributed to the authors’ ability to connect me to the characters because I know I wasn’t ready to say goodbye! I really hope we get more – I know I’ll be 1clicking if we do!! Temporary Bliss had passion, humour, heat and emotion…not to mention a smorgasbord of hotties . A great read for a lazy Sunday and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

It's 3 am and I feel like shouting to anyone who's still awake to go and buy it but realise this is ARC and the book won't be out till next week. DAMN!

I really enjoyed this book and had a great feeling about it. It started with Mac's journey that shaped the person she became. And how much an experience changed a person. It touched on abusive relationship and how it affected her.

Mac. I love her. She reminded of Samantha Jones from SATC and I love it! It's very refreshing to read about heroine that plays a role where it would be played by the badass Rockstars in every other book. A heroine who knows what she wants, get what she wants and calling all the shots. No clingy, sappy, crybaby and over the top drama queen heroine.

And don't get me start on the men. YES!! The MEN on this books. If this is a movie my head and eyes won't stop moving constantly trying to ogle one from another. There's Daniel the swoon worthy handsome stockbroker or the deal breaker. Then you have Noah the walking dildo (Im not kidding. That's his nickname). There's Sean the sexy Gideon-feel Dom. And oh.. Lets not forget Zander's the stripper also known as Channing Tatum in my head.

If those men not making you one-click this book as it is... Well, you might love the writing and it's humour. Think of Wallbanger, Tangled .. Yes. It's hilarious and making you smile and giggle snort at their banters.

On top of the great heroine, the great men, the great writing.. There's also the great hot moments. YES! YES! (Ohhhh yes!!!! ) that moments.

I should mentions other things that just makes it even better such as great friendship that Mac had with Kate. I love their friendship. And I think great friendship in a book is just as important background story that made a book even better. Mac also has a funny and great family that helps to understand why she's the way she is.

Overall, there's no dull moments in this book. And I love every single moments reading it, I didn't want it to end. It's a definite 5 blissful stars and nothing temporary about it!! (For the record I don't give 5 stars easily regardless who wrote it)

After her last two books that had so much angst I was initially nervous about this one but I think i might Just found a new favourite author.

Makenna Lewis avoids serious relationships and commitments after a bad break-up four years ago. She stays satisfied with three male friends who occasionally provide extra benefits....

 photo tumblr_mqml1kDCc11s8ooxgo1_500_zpse3dfa6ee.gif

Then she meets Delicious "Sex on the Beach" Daniel on the L- train. Her best friend Kate convinces her to give dating a chance and challenges her to go on three sex free dates. Daniel is charming, sweet and sexy. He wants Makenna to give him a chance and isn't interested in sharing her with her " friends":)

I thought this was a really fun book. Makenna lives with her best friend Kate and they have lots of funny and entertaining conversations. Makenna and Daniel have really great banter too, and when the sparks fly, things get pretty smutty:) Mac is definitely a girl who embraces her sexuality and isn't afraid to be blunt about it.

I have to admit that there wasn't anything too original about the plot and it was pretty predictable. At this point I have read countless books with variations of this theme. I still recommend it and plan to read the second book which is Kate's story. There isn't a cliffhanger and it does have a really sweet epilogue.

She had 3 in the hand...but the 4th is the charm.

Temporary Bliss was a pleasant surprise to me. Mac had been previously hurt by a boyfriend who claimed to love her. So she put barriers around her heart to protect her from ever being hurt again. She manages to move on by organising three men to become her friends with benefits. The conditions are that only friendship is on offer and each man has a special "talent" in the bedroom...lucky Mac!

Daniel meets Mac and there is an instant attraction. This couple is sweet, funny and super HOT together. I loved that Daniel knew Mac was scared of relationships, but this did not stop him. He was determined to break down her barriers.

At first I found it a little hard to connect with Mac and felt that Kate, her best friend, enabled her. I felt this prolonged Mac's pain and didn't allow her to grow up and move on from her hurt. Mac grew on me and I realised Kate was always going to have her back, even when they didn't agree with each other.

A great story with some smoking hot smexy scenes, some funny moments and some sweet scenes that made me sigh. I will definitely be reading more from this author.

RECENSIONE QUI: https://thereadingslove.blogspot.com/...

description

The story starts off dark and sad. Makenna aka Mac, was in a bad relationship with her high school boyfriend. She's finally had enough and gets the hell out

4 years later........
This lucky bitch has 3 men in her penis harem!!!

Theres Noah, a resident doctor at the hospital she works at. She's a nurse.
There's Sean, an older gentleman who she gets the Dom treatment from
And rounding out the harem is Zander, the flirtatious male stripper.
All know about each other. And all know Mac is a huge commitment phobe

The book is about Mac and promises she made to herself. 1) never let a man dictate her life. 2) never again let love lead her astray.

Well, she lets Sean dictate in the bedroom but she's ok with that. It's rule#2 that's she holds onto with a vice grip.
After work, on the train ride home she meets guy#4 delicious Daniel. Oh, sexy man in a suite that's also an investment banker with a dirty mouth! Mac can go toe to toe with him. Their banter was so freaking cute and funny. Mac is the kinda girl you want to be friends with. Her bff Kate is equally as funny and dirty. She gives Mac a challenge. 3 date rule, no sex.....

So they make it through the 3 dates and what do you know!! Feelings are getting involved and the sex is HOT, but Mac the stubborn bitch is either freaking out or running away. Daniel is a great guy. There's nothing you won't like about him. You get a small taste of the other 3 men in the harem but they don't have a strong presence in the book. Once Daniel entered the story, it's a game of cat and mouse that was fun to read. Mac had some serious shit to work through and poor Daniel had so much passion for her, he put up with a lot of her crap. This was a fun, cute, quick read with some great banter. The next book is her bff Kate's.

My brain is totally fried between my college course, my kids, and reviewing therefore my review will be a bit different this time around. If I like how it turns out I may even stick to this method.

Four men, no strings, and one sexually confident woman...that is until she met her match! (no cheating involved)

"Aside from our physical relationships, I'm friends with all three of them. Each man provides me with a different physical need that I crave and desire; that sometimes I just want. But I'm not a slut, and I'm not easy. For the first time in four years, a man has my heart beating faster, my eyes shining brighter, and my brain turning to mush"

What I loved about this book:

* The witty delightful characters, even Mac; I was positive she would annoy the living day lights out of me. I am excited to say she passed my extremely tough heroine test and came out a winner! Loved her to bits, even her slight running tendencies, shocking I know. Mac definitely intrigued me, hooking me from the very first page. Her aversion to anything emotional left me entertained. I freaking LOVED that BJ flipped the typical gender role with Mac and gave us a kick ass heroine who wasn't afraid to be all about the sexual fun and not so much about the emotional tie down. Makenna was hot, she was feisty, and she wasn't afraid to enjoy the physical side of life. Hands down, Mac freaking rules. BJ Harvey I not only have a thing for your male lead, but I also have a gigantic girl crush on your female lead!

* THE MEN!! How in the hell could you not go gaga for all those delicious men? Each one of them had me experiencing a roller coaster ride of emotions, endearing themselves to me in some shape or form. Especially, Sean! I fell hard for that domineering man in Mac's life. His character screamed with the potential for badass, even if BJ only supplied me with teasing bits and pieces of his personality and lifestyle. Daniel--can I just say Daniel is an absolute doll! I definitely wouldn't mind being the middle of a Superman and Sean sandwich. The hero proved on many occasions he held the ability to be just as dominating and dark as our resident Dom! Zander is an absolute cutie! I found myself very distracted by his character mainly due to learning something naughty about him; before I even met his character, (girls everywhere will be moving him up to the tops of their book boyfriend lists). Noah is pure arrogance, but in all honest who wouldn't be when they are referred to as a "walking dildo." Can't wait to meet the chick who brings this surgeon to his knees. I loved that when he was confronted with the twist of Daniel and Mac, he was sweet and supportive. Noah was genuine. His character surprised me the most I think.

* I had a blast experiencing the physical and emotional chemistry between all of the characters; it felt as though I was a part of their gang. I loved that Mckenna shared the same type of friendship with her guy friends as she did with her gal friend Kate. The witty rapport between all of them flowed off the page effortlessly, and never failed to keep me giggling.

* THE PLOT!! I think this may actually be my favorite part regarding this adventure. I love reading a book that encases a strong sexually liberated female lead that isn't afraid to go against the grain, who challenges society's norms. This isn't your typical love story, nor is it about your typical damaged commitment phobic hero. Mac is very much female and she relishes the friends with benefits relationship that she has with each of her guys, however, it isn't all about sexual gratification. She absolutely cherishes the friendship she shares with Sean, Zander, and Noah. It is meaningful, sweet, and fun; each man individually offers her something unique to her relationship with them. I loved that the guys all knew about each other, and accepted her exactly for who she was. There was no lying, no betrayals, and no bitterness. They all understood that Mac did everything in her power to avoid any form of commitment, which is until she meets Delicious Daniel. That's where the fun really began, where the author drew the fine line between love and lust. Mac's adventure felt fresh and unique, her story left me feeling a bit envious of her carefree ways!

“It seems that Superman’s talents hold no bounds.
It’s just a shame my heart does.”

What I struggled with:

* I loved the plot, I loved the characters, and I enjoyed the authors writing style. My ONLY slight issue is a personal one, nothing to do with the author and her writing ability since I found all the main players and plot to be utterly engaging and well developed. I absolutely adored the character interactions; I just wish I had gotten to spend more time with them outside the sexual realm (mainly Daniel and Mac). While the sex scenes were wicked, (panty melting hot, if I am to be honest), for my personal tastes if felt as though there was just too many. I often felt as though Daniel and Mac avoided any real conversation and just hit the sheets. I needed to see more verbal and emotional growth between these two characters that didn't include the exchange of bodily fluids, all the sex and avoidance of anything remotely resembling emotion began to overwhelm the story. I will say that I totally ate up any interaction between them (even the steamy ones); they were one hell of a smoking combination. Her independence and forwardness balanced out well with his sweet teasing alpha ways. He was alpha no doubt, but he perfected and delivered this in a laid back quiet way.

I really enjoyed my first foray into BJ Harvey's realm! Her characters border on addicting and driving me up the wall. I also found they were immediately connectable, as well as relatable, not to mention they left me wanting more. I can't wait to see the road BJ takes Zander's story down (I am convinced she will make Kate his HEA). Kate deserves a man who will hand her the world on a platter and I think Zander may be just the man to deliver. Therefore, whether Ms. Harvey agrees or not, she will be providing Zander and Kate with their HEA's together.

Temporary Bliss comes as a highly recommended read from me.

Thank you, BJ Harvey, for the opportunity to read and review an ARC of Temporary Bliss in exchange for my honest opinion.

ARC received from Author in exchange for an honest review.

It felt like since forever since I was given a chance to get a glimpse into the world of Mac and her never ending supply of penises. The wait was torturous! But it is finally over. Temporary Bliss was a fantastic story about a girl that although was self confident with her sexual needs; created a world of casual encounters to safeguard her heart.

Mac had all her bases covered. She had three men available to meet all of her needs. They each knew the score - knew the rules and all understood the basic rule of their relationship.

Before we dive into THE guy, let's meet the harem.

Zander...

He's the guy that seems to break down the inner exhibitionist in Mac. He is always ready for a good time and sure as hell can deliver.

Noah...

Cocky doctor who doesn't resist offering his services to ease the tension of a long shift...with his long shaft.

Sean...

Mr. Dom is the one that brings Mac to her knees, gains her submission and makes her beg for a little bit of rough D/s play.

But even with a full plate of delicious men at her disposal; she never expected to want something more. And when she meets Daniel Winters, the last thing on her mind was commitment, maybe adding a forth penis to the rotation - but certainly not a relationship.

Daniel...

He's the delicious stockbroker that has Mac reacting in ways she never expected. Her heart races at his touch and she just can't seem to prevent him from worming his way into her life.

But from the moment she met him she knew what she wanted from him. She just wasn't sure if he would easily fit into her arrangement.

But Mac finds out that her desire for Daniel has her agreeing to a few rule changes that she never imagined she would. And as much as her body and heart seems to want to be claimed by him, her head is telling her to run, to keep her vow. But Mac has slowly slipped into what she's feared the most - a place where getting hurt becomes possible. She promised herself after her last relationship - nothing was worth the risk of being broken again.

Mac has to make a choice, she can't have her cake and eat it too. She has a chance at fighting for happiness or staying stuck in a cycle of casual friends with benefits relationships. And as she pushes Daniel away with her words, her body can't seem to stop pulling him back in. She knows what she wants and it scares her to admit it.

Even though the focus of the story was on Mac & Daniel, I could not help but find a place in my heart for the rest of the gang. Kate, the best friend we all want. There for you no questions asked - but willing to kick your ass when you need a good ass kicking. I am excited that she will get a book and hopefully will find her own perfect piece of man-candy.

And the boys, oh the boys. I am a little smitten with Mr. Dom and maybe it's just my own need for a good spanking - but I just need a bit more of this domineering man.

Mac, even though she had issues from her past that stunted her emotionally when it came to relationships - she was still a very strong woman. A little stubborn, but still so lovable. She was easy to warm to and the quick wit remarks and flirtatiousness of her and Daniel's interactions were fantastic.

Angst levels were low, but the steam was definitely turned up. As Kate said "Drooling at both ends."

I am honored to have had a chance to review BJ's and have enjoyed all of her previous works along with Mac's story in TB. I can't wait to continue the journey with her and her cast of characters.

Temporary Bliss by BJ Harvey

4 stars!!

ARC received from author for an honest review.

“I’ve been single and happy for the past four years; happily sexed up and fulfilled for the past eighteen months with three of the most accommodating and laid back guys I’ve ever met. What’s to complain about?”

Temporary Bliss is the first book in a new series by BJ Harvey, this is the “Bliss Series” and this story belongs to one hell of a sassy chick Makenna Lewis.

Makenna fell in love whilst at school, he hit a rough patch and moved away to get a job with family and took Makenna with him, he soon changed and Makenna found herself stuck in an abusive relationship. With no money and no friends of her own she found it hard to escape, but she did eventually. She went back home to Chicago to be with her friends and soon had herself settled with a flatmate and a job. The lasting effect of her first time love was the lack of trust to love again, so Makenna found herself with 3 friends with benefits. You had Mr Dom, Mr Stripper and Mr Doctor a.k.a “The Walking Dildo.” All three knew of the others existence and the situation suited them all, each “friend” gave her something different, something that she needed. She was always safe and it was easy, it was no strings, no chance of her ever being hurt again. Makenna was a great character after she got back home, she was fun loving, she was sassy, she told it how it is, she was confident she was just so loveable. I loved this girl!!

Her carefully laid plans for her love life are put to the test when she has a chance encounter on the “L” train with a stranger, she drops her phone and as she is frantically trying to grab it as it slides down the carriage she comes to the feet of said stranger who has stopped her phones progression. She looks up…and WOW! There is an instant connection, the chemistry is oozing off the page and it is not just one sided!! Enter, Daniel Winters – Mr Stockbroker!

“I’m in so deep, I’ll take you however I can have you.”

This book follows Makenna and Daniel’s story. Makenna needs to learn to trust and love, she has been hurt badly and she feels extremely vulnerable. Daniel is the epitome of the perfect man, once Makenna really opens up, he knows what she needs, he is there for her, he gives it to her, it is just up to her to open her eyes and also her heart, will she be able to do it? There are always ups and downs, miscommunications etc etc but this is one story that you will be rooting for them. I did get frustrated with Makenna at times, but I had to take a step back and realise that she had been hurt and she was trying to protect herself. You will need to read to see what happens but it is a lovely story.

“Gorgeous, you have finally caught up. We just made love, except this time you were totally there with me.”

I had a lot of fun reading this book, it is hilarious in places and BJ Harvey’s sense of humour is prevalent throughout the book, I could not put it down! I connected with all the characters, even the side ones and I feel that each one may get their own book throughout this series. For a light, fun, sexy and HOT!! read, this is the book for you. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next in the series, Makenna’s BFF Kate is up next!! I hope Mr Dom, Mr Stripper and Mr Walking Dildo get their own books too!

Rough around the edges and shiny in the middle...

I hate starting off a review negatively. It's the equivalent of meeting a cute old lady on the street and then punching her in the face, repeatedly. I'd much rather just make an inappropriate comment, tell you something good, and then rip off the bandaid. Well, I must have put my ass on backwards this morning because I'm going to go ahead and get the reasons why I gooded this book over with.

The book started off by intriguing the hell out of me. It's so refreshing seeing a chick wear the dick in a relationship. Mackenzie enjoys random and no strings attached sex. Why must someone have a penis for that to be possible? In Temporary Bliss Mac weilds that double edged sword like a champ. It makes me want to burn a bra or something. I also loved the secondary characters!

The humor was both a strength and a weakness. There were some definite great one-liners, but after a while they were almost too much. This made them seem less natural and more forced; coming across as trying too hard to be funny instead of just being funny. I definitely laughed out loud on several occasions, but it also served as a device that pulled me away from the story.

Overall I never got past the surface of Temporary Bliss I enjoyed the ride, but I never quite felt a deep emotional connection. It was entertaining, but it was reminiscent of stories I've read before. I have no doubt that BJ Harvey has talent, and I will definitely be keeping my eye out for her in the future.

I loved this book, I loved this book!!!! I read it in one sitting which is weird because my last read was like that as well. I love when books completely take over like that. This was a quick read as well. I loved Daniel and Mac!!! This story was amazing! I just want to gush all day!
I haven't started checking to see who will be in the sequels, but now I'm very curious. Can't wait to see who's next!!!

I. Was. Hooked....totally! This book drew me in and I couldn't put it down.

Makenna Lewis had fallen in love. She'd followed her Beau across country, but found a different side to him, and found herself aching for the boy she'd fallen for. The relationship ended traumatically, leaving Mac vowing to avoid any form of commitment in the future.

4 years later and Mac is in a very different place. She is happy in her nursing job, and is happy with her sex life. Who wouldn't be with 3 different guys to service your urges! Noah (a surgeon), Sean (a lawyer come sexy Dom...mmmmnn!) and Zander (a stripper). They are all on the same page with Mac..hook up if you fancy super sexy time with no strings.

That "friends with benefits" situ works swimmingly until late one night, travelling home from work, Mac falls upon Daniel Winters. Numbers are exchanged, and it gets interesting!

Mac was a funny lady, her inner Mac was just as hilarious as her witty retorts to Daniel, who found himself captivated by "gorgeous". Their "not dating" was an eventful ride, especially when they went to the Bears game!

Her relationships with her 3 "friends" were endearing too. Each one totally different, but with utterly scrumptious men...lucky her!

Her best friend, Kate, was her great support. Having been there since school, she had got to see all sides of Mac. Kate was funny, realistic, calming and big fun!

Delicious Daniel was divine! He was attentive, loyal, personable, respectful, charming and drop dead dazzling! I HEART Daniel..

I thoroughly enjoyed this story, and wanted to know more. I'm hoping the next installment of her best friend, and flatmate, Kate, will fill me in!

Come mai?
