Black Widow (stand-alone) starts off as an erotic tale but quickly turns into an erotic suspense.
Since losing her husband criminal defense attorney Kamii Schafer, Eurydice has spent her nights reading romance. But her lonely existence is coming to end when a new girlfriend invites her to Bridge, a private sex club hidden in her office building where she can venture out sexually without any emotional connections.
Similarly, luxury home builder and founder of Bridge, Preston Babcock, Eros tragically lost his wife and is looking to play the field. Clad in masks Preston and Kamii’s first encounter opens the door for more as they act out their fantasies in ménages while pushing each other sexually.

Hot sex … a gorgeous dominating sex club owner … suspense … hot menage … chemistry … did I mention the hot sex ;) This book has it all!!!
In the beginning I already loved this book but soon there is a twist I didn’t see coming and as of that moment we get lots of suspense! I loved it!
In this book we meet Kamii and Preston. Both have lost the love of their life. Kamii has lost her husband 5 years ago and hasn’t found another man yet to whom she wants to commit. Work has been it for her for the past years. Her erotic, kinky books have kept her company all this time. Preston has lost his wife almost a year ago. She couldn’t handle their kinky lifestyle anymore. Preston now has his own private sex club. He loves sex with other people but will never give his heart to anyone again. This works fine until his business partner and friend Becca introduces Kamii to their club. This is where I’ll stop telling the story since I really don’t want to spoil it…
As I said above something terrible happens at 49%. I really didn’t see that coming and was devastated. As of that moment it’s no longer a hot sexy read but one filled with suspense too.
I loved both main characters but I also their mutual friend Becca. I would love to have a friend like her.
This was my first read of Lauren Runow but I’ll definitely read more in the future! I give this book 4 stars…

There's some murder mystery, suspense going on in there as well.

This book is in my top 10 2016 favorites!!! I LOVED LOVED LOVED this book! It was everything I needed. I devoured it! I don't know what else to say except read this! You won't be disappointed. It has everything I love in a book: hot, steamy sex, threesomes, amazing heroine (she's a booklover, enough said), suspenseful, on the edge of your seat plot, swoonworthy alpha male. This book has placed Lauren Runow on my auto buy author list. Go one click:)

Black Widow by Lauren Runow is a highly erotic, suspenseful tale that will keep you on the edge till the very end with twists and turns I dare you to try and figure out. Kamii Schafer, experienced horrible loss when her husband died suddenly and since then she's immersed herself into her work as an attorney. No real friends and her appearance is the last thing on her mind when Kamii is befriended by Becca she never could have imagined her life could possibly mirror one of her romance novels. Preston Babcock's wife died in a tragic accident a little over a year ago which changed his outlook on relationships. For Preston he will always love his wife so for his physical needs only sex is allowed with no strings attached at "Bridge" a members only sex club he just opened with Becca's help. Can two people so broken from previous relationships find peace with each other despite outside parties trying interfere?
Lauren has done it again! I could put this book down and read it less than a day. Kamii & Preston have white hot chemistry together that give us some of the best written sex scenes I've ever read that escalate as the story unfolds with twists and turns. This is Lauren's third book and I can tell you she's one of my go to authors and I can't wait to see what she has in store for us next! 5 Fabulous Stars for Black Widow by Lauren Runow.

This is the story of Kamii and Preston. Two persons who have felt loss!
The story started really nicely. Although I couldn't understand or feel the connection among the heroes, I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the book. The plot was moving quite fast but it was ok. Around 49% of the book, a twist took place and from an erotic book, it became a mystery/thriller book. The problem was that there was no mystery for me. I figured out immediately what happened and the beauty of the book was lost for me. I believe the story would have been much better if there wasn't this twist in the book or at least the focus of the second part. The writing was good and the story was mainly said from Kamii's and Preston's POV with the exception of 2 parts that were said from someone's POV.
Kamii is an amazing woman. She lost her husband 5 years ago and refuses to feel any join without him until she meets Becca. I like Kamii. She is honest with her needs and her likes! I respect her choices and the way she dealt with all these new experiences.
Preston is kind of distant to me. There was his POV in the book but I never felt connected to him. I couldn't understand why he was so attracted to Kamii at first place. Was it her body, her eyes or something else? I really didn't feel him and it's a pity. Thankfully in the end of the book I could get a better glimpse of him but it didn't correct the damage done in my mind.
Their interactions were also a bit confusing for me. Don't get me wrong, they were hot as hell and super intense! Just there was something missing for me.
I need to mention Becca as well! This girl has totally taken my heart! I love her so much! She has an amazing spirit and a great heart! She is actually the reason two people fell in love!
The end of the book was good although predictable, and there was an epilogue! However, this is supposed to be the first book of a series and to be honest I cannot imagine what the second book will be about. I didn't meet any other characters of the Club Bridge during this story that could possibly be the heroes of another book.

This was an excellent read! The storyline was perfect! The sex scenes were so hot!!! I cried during certain chapters. I was left thinking "damn I didn't see that coming"! I felt like I was watching a movie. The ending was perfect. The writing was done perfect. I can't wait to read more of this Authors work. I highly recommend this read.

BUT there are circumstances that compromise their relationship, the secrets, the betrayal, the pain and the past all colliding at once, turning their lives into havoc of death, crime, lies and survival.
This book is highy erotical, highly exotic almost to say in presenting the world of unhibited sexual desires and it really brought the scenes to the pin point of exclusive sexual expressivness...and I could certainly appreciated that. It starts of with a rush, it throws you into the realm of this sexual masterpiece and than the plot takes of into the twist of suspense and thriller.
That part was predictable for me and some plot lines weren't explained in a satisfying manner that I could fully appreciate the effort of a suspensful thriller. There were just small hints of that genre thrown in the story and I would have been interacting more if that weren't the case.
All in all it was a very pleasurable read.

Wow I was not expecting this book to be so damn hot. The scenes in this book are crazy sexy. It's also action filled. I devoured this book. It was truly that good. I'm excited for part two. Lauren you aced this one congrats!!

An erotic, suspenseful, mystery thriller romance :-) ha! categorise it if you can. I dare you.
Black Widow has a great plot with more than one eye-popping twist. Should I mention all the eyebrow-raising sexy scenes? (pst - there's a sex club)
We have two traumatised MCs trying to find a way through the rest of their lives and a best friend who is full of life enough for everyone around her. Becca was my favorite character even though she wasn't an MC. Just when their lives look to be taking an upturn all hell breaks loose. Everyone is thrown into chaos and danger and we are looking around for a whodoneit.
So, a great story ... in desperate need of an editor. :-( Ms. Runow, if you paid for an editor, I'd request a refund. The book needs cuts and developments as well as more varied word choices. Then, it needs a copyedit. Then, this will be a five star book.
I absolutely hate pointing out anything negative in an indie book. I'm truly sorry. But it's either point it out or not review at all. I won't lie. I always hope some good comes out of my critique and not simply anger at a less than stellar review.

Black Widow was something else, did not expect the things that happened which is why this book is a must read.

WOW!!! I had no idea the wild roller coaster ride I would be taking, when I started reading Black Widow.
Preston Babcock's beloved wife was dead, and had killed herself by jumping off a bridge, right in front of him, and worse was the guilt he carried that it had been his fault. He decided to never again get emotionally involved, but just to satisfy his sexual needs would have to be enough.
Kamii Schafer was a widow, whose only escape from her workaholic life was in erotic novels. After her husband had been murdered, this was the only excitement that she had in her lonely life. These two very broken souls didn't know that they had a mutual friend named Becca, that was going to bring them together in one wild fantasy come true, and they will owe it all to Becca.
This book could fit many categories from erotica, because there is club sex that is scorching hot, or could be labeled intense suspense. An intense, suspenseful, erotic ride, Black Widow is the book you read on your kindle and blush when someone tries to read over your shoulder.
Through Kamii, I went places I would never have dared. First let me just take a breath! Where do I start?! Haha. This was pure erotic insanity!!! Plot twists where all over the place, things are going good, some bangin ass sex is going on, then, BAM... Plot twist. This book was quite an adventure for me. Until the book releases, I can't say much else. Move over E.L., I think Lauren Runow may take away your crown some day. She's definitely got the right stuff.

If you like steamy romance books this book is not for you…only because this is HOT, HOT, HOT!! Ms. Runow takes you to some crazy places emotionally too. She takes you to a very sad place when describing how both Preston and Kamii tragically lost someone who meant everything to them. After feeling so sad you are quickly thrown in to some scenes that had you needing a cold shower. Ms. Runow also throws in a good amount of suspense keeping you guessing as to who is going to be killed and by whom. So there is something for everyone. It seemed like every phase was very intense and had you wanting for more.
After living through their tragedies Kamii turned in on herself and concentrated on her work which was as an attorney and Preston started his very own sex club. His club was very secretive as everyone was required to wear a mask which let their members be completely anonymous. Kamii’s new found friend Becca pulled her out of her rut and showed her how to let go and get her mind on other things than what had happened to her husband. Well, maybe she took her a little further out of her rut than most friends would because it was Becca who introduced Kamii to the Bridge sex club which Preston owned. Becca knew Preston personally because she also worked with him setting the Bridge up. Kamii was nervous and never thought that this would be something that she could do but in no time Kamii was finally pulling out of that shell she had herself in since her husband’s death. There was one person in particular that she felt a pull toward but she didn’t know who this mysterious man was. Only because Becca was there when the club began she knew exactly who it was that Kamii was drawn to. As Becca and Kamii became more and more involved within the club it all came crashing down when Kamii went to check on Becca since she wasn’t answering her phone and found her murdered.
Preston set his very own sex club up as an outlet and escape from losing his wife. He was drawn to Kamii even before she became a member of Bridge after seeing her out at a bar with Becca one night. Then when she showed up at Bridge he did everything he could to single Kamii out exclusively because he like her, felt this pull. As with Kamii everything came crashing down yet again in his life when Becca was found murdered. There was so much evidence left at the scene and everything was pointing to Preston as the culprit. Kamii knew that Preston couldn’t have done it no matter what all the evidence said so she stepped up and became Preston’s lawyer.
Did Preston finally break from losing his wife so tragically or was there more to this than everyone thought? Preston did have an alibi but it was one that he was not going to use to keep his butt out of prison. This club and their anonymity meant everything to him and he was not about to give anyone away. Even though Kamii was falling for Preston was she willing to help the guy accused of killing her best friend or was this all more than even Kamii could handle? All I can say is that this book sure could make you blush…but it was so fun reading about it! Besides the awesome sex in this book Ms. Runow sure knows how to write a great thriller/suspense plot as well. There are a lot of twists and turns and one huge surprise at the end. I definitely have found myself and another author to follow and I can’t wait to see what she has in store next for us.

I had no clue what I was getting into when I started reading Black Widow by Lauren Runow.
The book starts out deep, then turns humorous & sexy, then before you know it you are on a winding road you never expected.
Preston & Kamii both come from horrific pasts that ultimately lead them together. The steamy sex scenes in the sex club Preston owns are so amazing I will be sated for quite a while. Black Widow will keep you guessing until the end. My mind was blown.
I am not only thoroughly impressed by the story and how I was unable to solve the mystery, but I am also blown away by the fact that Lauren is not on the shelf in every Barnes & Noble.
This book had everything in it that I want in a novel. Wow is all I can say. I am utterly wowed. I cannot wait to read what else comes out by Lauren Runow. This is a 5 star book hands down!

Holy Crap where do I start. I will say at first I was a bit apprehensive about reading this book. It wasnt catching my eye and the cover isn't my favorite. I'm a self proclaimed cover whore! But, what's one to do when they are in a HORRIBLE book funk? Read something new and man oh man was I surprised when I dove in.
I am trying really hard not to spoil anything. I really thought maybe this would be just a smoking hot book, ya know sex club, Alpha men, threesomes, Foursomes, orgies, then.....BAMM your smacked upside the head with the plot twist! I couldn't put it down. I had to leave and actually be an adult and interact with real people right when it was getting good! Nobody wants to do that!
Basically EVERYONE NEEDS to read this book ASAP! TRUST ME! I'M A KINKY GIRL!

OH MY GOODNESS...THIS BOOK GAVE ME CHILLS! I feel like Lauren took my mind and flipped it every which way. My heart was broken, I smiled, laughed, and felt my pulse flutter when things got hot. And boy did things get volcanic!!! It kept me captive from the moment I read the Prologue and didn't let go, braiding me up in it's spider web of plot twists. I had no idea what would happen even though I tried to guess and was wrong, or what to expect next in this storyline. Which I love!!!! That's when you've found a GREAT BOOK!!!

This book started out really strong - great character development and exciting plot. I truly wasn't expecting for it to go the direction it did, so for a little while in the middle I was flagging a bit. Then, holy hell - wow, huge twists and turns - and what a finish! Damn. Very exciting story, which ended up being perfectly paced, as I figured out why the author was doing what she did. Great characters which evolved beautifully throughout the story. Great read!

4.25 stars. I really enjoyed this book. Erotic intrigue with suspenseful witty dialogue. The author clearly paints a vivid picture with her words and takes you on a dark and twisted journey with the characters that you think you know where you're going... but maybe just maybe you're wrong!
I would recommend to anyone who likes a dose of mystery along with their heat. Excellent, enjoyable read!

Where do I even begin with this book? First of all, there really should be a 6-star option. Lauren Runow knocks this entire thing out of the park.
Here's what I knew about Black Widow before starting:
There would be lots of sex. Multiple partner sex. HOT sex. The main characters each had their own issues (as is typical), but death is quite the issue and both main characters lost their partner.
That's it. I knew nothing else.
So, imagine my surprise when I opened this book to meet Preston and Kamii and I find that Kamii is a girl after my own heart?! Kamii loves to read, which is quite the coincidence because so do I!
...for me, the dirtier the better. Give me a good Contemporary Romance or Erotic novel and I'm in heaven.
How awesome is that? I say the exact same thing all the time. And I got exactly that from Black Widow. Kamii meets Becca at the gym and they become insta-friends. This is better than insta-love because we all know it's possible to meet that one person who you just click with and your friendship blooms. That's how it is for Becca and Kamii. The two become inseparable and soon enough Becca is introducing Kamii to a world that has only existed in her romance books. Until now.
What would you do if your new best friend introduced you to a sex club where all of your fantasies could become reality? I know what I'd do which is pretty much what Kamii does.
Preston has been heartbroken for awhile. Ever since his wife committed suicide, he has been determined to not mix sex with feelings. Before his wife jumped from the bridge, they had been indulging in some of Preston's fantasies--all of which could be found at a local sex club. What Preston thought was a way to fulfill his needs is what drove his wife crazy. She couldn't handle not being enough for her husband and decided that ending her life would be the better solution (this is not a spoiler, you read this in the blurb and it happens in the prologue). After his wife's death, he decides to open his own anonymous sex club. Identities are withheld and masks are worn, but the fantasies are indulged.
Kamii's first night at Bridge, the sex club Becca takes her to, is a 'watch-only' kind of night. Membership is required to participate and Kamii is unsure. Until Eros. Eros breaks down her inhibitions and the rest of the book is built on the relationship that takes place between these two in the club.
What Kamii doesn't know is that Preston is Eros. And Preston and Becca have been friends since they met in a club. Becca is Preston's right-hand man.
When tragedy hits--because tragedy has to hit--it isn't simply a case of a misunderstanding, it's big. And be prepared because it will ROCK YOUR WORLD. It's the kind of twist that you don't see coming. Up until this point, the book has been hot, fantastic sex. Lots of sex. Maybe this is when I should say that if you aren't open to m/f/m or foursomes, then you probably should walk away now. Don't even pick it up because this book is about exploring the other sides of sex--not just monogamous sex and not just one-on-one sex.
Anyway. After this hit, the hits keep coming. What started as a sex book quickly becomes a suspense. But the sex is still there. And it never loses it's hot factor.
Preston knows he wants Kamii and nothing will get in his way. Not the tragedy, not the sex club, not the fact that shit just keeps getting crazier and crazier. He will get Kamii.

Black Widow. Anything written by Lauren Runow is a must read. And my gosh, I wasn't disappointed with this book. It had my heart pounding, hands shaking and an unbelievable amount of heat creeping through me. I loved every moment spent reading this book.
So here we have Kamii and Preston. Two similar souls who have endured pain and loss. Both needing to find release, they connect on levels they never expected. Emotionally and physically. What I loved was how their bond had them wanting to break rules, try new experiences and forming relationships that brought the best of out of them. Pain causes us to be vulnerable but then we realise that some things are more important than leaving your heart cold and your walls built strong. As I said, it's a novel that'll have you reeling with raw need. And I loved it all.
Black Widow is about directing your pain into passion that'll have you asking for more. Finding that one person who made you want to live every single day to the fullest. If I could give you more than 5 stars, Lauren then I would in a heartbeat. Beautiful book. I'm so proud of you and your third novel. Brilliant.

When I started reading, I had no idea Black Widow was a highly erotic story, although it also contained a romance and an intriguing mystery. It proved to be a bit of a genre hybrid that kept me entertained for a day and taught me a bit about sex clubs. The way this group participated in their secret members’ only club - it actually seemed on par with going to a gym and working out. The main rule being that it was completely anonymous; no identities were used, masks were worn at all times, aliases were conjured. That worked fine until someone was accused of a crime and needed to prove their alibi – oops. That could present an embarrassing moment or two at the water cooler.

o.m.g.! This book was so hot! I loved the depth of the characters, and the story had great flow with killer twists. Just when you think you have it figured out, you get hit with something unexpected and it leaves you on your toes! Can't wait to see what follows in this series :) Lauren is definitely one of my authors to watch!
