The blackouts started happening when Teal was eight. There are long periods of her youth she doesn't remember. She has woken up in strange places, feeling disoriented and unaware of how long she's been out.

After two years abroad attending a private school and sessions with a top-notch psychiatrist, she's been deemed cured. The blackouts have ceased, or so Teal thought, until she wakes up in a ditch back home in North Carolina. Dare, the man pulling her broken body from the wreckage, has a restraining order against him. He's no longer the clean-cut boy she went frog gigging with but road-hardened. His lean, muscular arms, riddled with tats, drag her out of the SUV. She should fear him, but instead, his touch sparks memories that tell her she once worshipped him with all her heart.

    MY REVIEW
I could not put Blackout down the story is so intense, i was on the edge of my seat desperately trying to work out who the bad guy was.
Chris Myers has woven such a great tale that is packed full of drama, friendship, its incredibly sexy and hot, filled with passion, then there is this wonderful mystery that keeps you guessing you are simply captivated by this story.

Dare and Teal have this beautiful past full of childhood memories and friendship right up until that night where both there lives took a turn no one saw coming, and changed the path there lives would take and there whole future.
These are incredible characters you get drawn into the story, it feels like you living it right along with them.
Another great character is Teal's gram she is a hoot so very funny.

There is no way you would have guessed the outcome and I loved everything about Blackout a brilliant 5 star read. Chris Myers you rock!

    pooled ink Reviews:

I found the whole mystery surrounding Teal and her blackouts to be super interesting. The whole story unfolds as bits of her memory resurface pushed along by some stalker who knew her long gone mother. It gets creepy and the ending is nothing but an adrenaline rush. Overall the “thriller” aspect captivated me, and yeah the romance wasn’t half-bad either ;)

The pacing was quick, the characters were captivating, the plot twisted and escalated with every turn, and I ended up reading the whole thing in one day. So if you’re looking for a romance novel with a bit of a kick then this would definitely be one worth looking into.

BLACKOUT is a skin-crawling thriller full of tension, mystery, adrenaline, and more than just a dollop of steamy romance.

[I received an ARC - Advanced Review Copy, of this book from the author, in exchange for an honest review].

I found Chris Myers' Blackout to be a captivating, psychological thriller with a romantic storyline not just thrown in, but added in such a way to not only fit with & intensify the storyline but to contrast with it & make you root for the characters involved even more. (Steamy scenes of a sexual nature also featured! - unsure of some of/wide array of names used to describe body parts, otherwise the scenes are described well & are not corny, trashy or unrealistic).

Blackout is the story of Teal, now 18, who when she was 8 witnessed and/or was involved in something so horrifying she's suffered from blackouts, blocking out all her memories & recollection of that day, for the past 10 years. The life of her childhood best friend, Dare, who found missing Teal also changed that day as there was no explanation for the state Teal was in, other than it must have been Dare who caused her harm. Teal's return to her hometown where the incident occured brings back old feelings for Dare (although to him that day & thus Teal ruined his life) and a stalker intent on harming Teal.
The story follows Teal's journey of fighting the blackouts so she can remember what happened that day, where Dare fits in & understand who would want to harm her & why, before it's too late.

The start of the book is slow paced & took a little while longer for me to get into compared to other books of a similar genre, however the storyline did still intrigue me & in some ways the slow start meant it was noticeable when the book gathered momentum; that constant build up of pace definitely kept me hooked right up until to the end!
The ending was shorter/more abrupt than other similar books & I would have liked for it to be more indepth in some areas; but mainly because I fell in love with the main character's, their struggles & lives, & wanted to keep on reading! There would definitely be room for the end of the book to be the start of a second book.. *hint hint Chris Myers!* =D. It was also nice not to have figured out the plot or twists at the start but be kept guessing for much longer until closer till the end. Aside from the obvious romance plot that is!

Overall, a surprisingly good read with an exciting & different plot line to most books of this genre I have read before; that had me hooked, staying up late, guessing & being unable to resist sneaking a peek a few pages ahead of the page I was on at the time!

I hope my review helps others decide on whether to purchase this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars A fast, fun, sexy mystery--highly recommended!

Something bad happened to Teal in the swamp when she was eight, but she can't remember what, and every time she gets close to remembering--or gets near the swamp--she blacks out. Young, handsome Dare was involved somehow, and he's been paying for it ever since, even though Teal is pretty certain Dare would never do anything bad to her. Now that they are young adults, their paths cross again and sparks fly. Whenever they're near each other, there's danger--and a whole lot of sexual chemistry. After only a few pages, I felt I knew these characters. I cared about them and wanted to know what would happen next. Will Teal black out at the wrong time and end up raped or worse? Will Dare get in trouble with the law, or with Teal's father, when he just wants to protect Teal? Will they give into their sexual desires, and if so, who'll be hurt in the fallout? I also kept turning pages to unravel the mystery of what happened to Teal in the swamp, what Dare had to do with it, and how Teal's absent mother may have been involved. There's lots of tension--sexual and otherwise--that will keep you on the edge of your seat. A fast, fun, sexy read. Highly recommended.

Blackout (lost girl book 1) Chris Myers
One night changed both their lives. Eight year old Teal has blackouts and cannot remember the night of terror. As she grows up certain things trigger those blackouts until she leaves for Paris. After two years in Paris, she thinks she has a handle on it. She comes back home only for them to be triggered again. Dares’ life also change that fateful night. He not only has a criminal record but he has lost his chance of his dream. Teal comes back and Dare lands up saving her over and over. There is an instant attraction but has too much happened to ever forgive. Can Dare help Teal remember? Does he want her to? The plot was fantastic and there was enough drama and suspense to keep you intrigued. I really liked the characters. My only fault with this book was the flow. At times we jumped from one sentence into a new scene, whereas I would have preferred a new chapter or at least a new paragraph. I found I was re-reading sentences to make sense of the story. Overall the book was great and really held my attention. Would I recommend this book – yes.

    This book was sheer fun!

I'd like to say it was a guilty pleasure, but I don't feel guilty at all about it!

I loved the tantalizing dark cocktail of mystery, thriller, and sexy romance. Hate, to admit it, but I'm a sucker for the bad boy with something worth while behind all that swagger.

I've never been to the setting with the bayou and bank- but from the strong imagery, if I ever get to travel there, it will seem a bit familiar from this book which anchors the reader in a strong sense of time and place.

I'm afraid to say too much for fear of giving spoilers. This book was different, full of dark secrets and clever plans.

Best of all, this book let me vicariously enjoy the feel of being young, in a small town, with the push and pull dynamics of safety and fear. Teal and Dare are a blast- and I enjoyed the ride with Teal's friends and co-workers. My first job out of college so to speak as at a biker bar, so that setting evoked memories.

This book was great fun highly entertaining- and I'm not sure how it would be done, but perhaps a sequel?

Got on my nerves with her short explanations on everything. There wasn't one thing in this book that she didn't flip flop on. Something would happen and two sentences later all was ok. It was so annoying. For me the love story wasn't even that good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Romantic Suspense - Blackout is an amazing book, very intriguing. I could not put the book down once I started reading it.

    Blackout

Romantic Suspense and a thrill ride

Romance, mystery, psychological suspense, thriller all wrapped up into this page-turning novel. Teal believes she’s cured from her blackouts when she returns to her home in the Outer Banks. As soon as she crosses into the swamp where her blackouts started, Teal blackouts, crashes her car, and the boy who found her ten years before and is now a man rescues her. Though Dare shouldn’t be near her because of a restraining order, he keeps watch over her as she navigates the unfriendly waters of her resurfacing memories.

Between the steamy sex and escalation of someone physically threatening Teal, the story moves at a rapid pace. The end really took me by surprise when I realized why Teal lost all of her memories about her mother who disappeared around the same time as Teal’s blackouts started. A great read!
