Play Fair (The Devil's Share Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 537 ratings

Guitarist of the world-famous rock band The Devil’s Share, no one would expect Jackson Cole to have a best friend who’s a girl, but his relationship with Bryan Lawson is too special to endanger with sex…until a different girl—the waifish nine-year-old who claims he’s her father—makes Jacks realize all that truly matters.

WILD. RECKLESS. IRRESPONSIBLE. A FATHER?

Jackson Cole has been called many things: immature, irresponsible, sexy as hell. But one thing he’s never been called is “Dad”—until Child Services shows up on his doorstep with a waifish nine-year-old claiming he’s the father. What’s a rock star to do? Call your best friend, who just happens to be super hot, funny, and even more commitment-phobic than you, and beg her to help. Of course, now that his friend is living in the same house, Jacks is finding it harder and harder to keep his hands to himself.

Bryan Lawson never expected to become pals with a charming, hilarious, breathtakingly handsome rock star, but after they met backstage at one of Jacks’s concerts, she couldn’t stop texting him. He’s just the sort of person she could imagine being with forever, except that, try as she might, she’s never managed to stay interested in a relationship for more than three months. Now that Jacks is a dad, the stakes are much higher. A breakup wouldn’t just ruin their friendship, it would destroy a little girl who’s just learning to love. But maybe also the game has changed.

I can't even explain how much I love jacks! But I will try, I bought play fair play as a birthday present to myself although, even if it hadn't been my birthday I would have still bought it! It Seemed like I had been waiting forever for this book (bit of an exaggeration I know!). I can never usually pick a definite favourite character in a book series, although I adore dash & smith, I have to say jacks is my FAVOURITE! I want him for myself, he is so funny and cute, I love how he is with his girls (Bryan & Landry). As for Bryan I also love her! She's such a fun character and I love how much she loves jacks! When she stood up to Dylan and defended jacks I found myself there with her saying go on Bryan! I love how close Bryan and jacks are all the way through, I love that they're best friends, Bryan is jacks perfect match (in my opinion), I honestly don't think that he would've suited someone like Lexi or Dylan (I adore them but they don't seem as fun and carefree enough to be put with jacks, they're more of the sensible grown up type rather than big kid at heart type that jacks is)..Don't get me started on Dylan! I wanted her to shut up and take judgemental self off to eat some vegan food. (Sorry slightly harsh) either way she did good in the end! I love the cover to This book and the epilogue is perfect! I seriously hope Luke gets a book, either way I can't wait for more awesome books from L.P. Maxa P.S I can 100% honestly say play fair is my favourite book of this year so far ( I can't see that changing, I am loyal to my favourites 😉)

The third book in this series and the story of Jacks (man) and Bryan (woman), why do they all have strange names?

It turns out Jacks and Bryan have become friends and when the book starts we find Jacks has a daughter he did not know about and whose mother has abandoned.

You can guess what happens but it is done so entertainingly that it is a joy to read and possibly better than the earlier books, although the sexual technique of Dash, Smith and Jacks is remarkably similar.

I have loved ever second of this series so far and play fair is just as amazing as the previous books.
I can't even say how much I love Jacks, he's witty, funny, sexy & cute as hell when it comes to his girls. This is one of my favourite best friends to lovers stories, it has so much heart in it and jesus did it pull on my heart strings. With each book I read in this series the more I love these characters and the more I want to read. I'm so in love with this series I can't even put it into words how much you need it in your life to read.

    Great book

I have loved this series and playing fair was not a let down. Bryan and jacks met at a show and since have become best friends that speak daily the chemsity is there but neither want to give into it for fear of ruining their friendship as neither are into commitment.

Jacks is your typical playboy and Bryan can't stay interested in a relationship longer than 3 months.

Jacks gets an unexpected surprise at his door and without knowing what to do calls up Bryan for her help. Their chemistry is off the charts hot with some great humour and you need to read this series if you haven't started already

This series gets better and better with each book, I swear! Thank you so much L.P. for including all of the characters in each book so actively as if not one is solely focused on one couple. Brilliant is what L.P. has done. This is what book lovers want, to always know what's going on with all of the couple's personally after their own epilogue. I normally do not go for series anymore because I don't like the wait after a crazy ride for Crossfire but for L.P. after what she's given us and that she listens to her readers, delivers above and beyond, I'll wait until she's good and ready with Luke's story. It's going to be amazing! I am a huge fan of this author, LOVE every single couple, Landry, Crash and Dagger, too. I hope in 4 everyone gets married, just sayin'. Bravo L.P., download now rock star romance lovers, start with book one Play Nice, Dash and Lexi's story, you will not be sorry. No cliffhanger, no cheating, great storyline, sexy, no kink but unnecessary, steamy enough. Typos, very few and should be overlooked because it's that good!

Play Fair is about guitarist Jacks and his best friend Bryan, also Dylan baby sister. Jacks and Bryan has been best friends since they met up in New Orleans, for a festival that the guys played in and where Smith had Dylan’s family meet up with them. Smith new Jacks and Dylan would like each other but never realized how close they have gotten. Jacks stopped his partying ways so he would not miss his nightly phone calls with Bryan. They would game together, text each other, talk about their relationships with other people. One day the Devil’s Share gets a knock on there door, and Jacks not waiting for the little girl Landry, on the other side. Not knowing what to do, he calls on his best friend to help, and Dylan can’t tell him no. She is a flight risk and Jacks is a manwhore, but maybe Landry is what they need.

Jacks is my favorite character in the Devil’s Share Series. What everybody doesn’t realize around him, is he is the heart of the band. He is a great, loving, loyal man who fights what he wants and adjust to situations. He always thinks he horrible at it, but he takes the bull by the horns. Bryan is a flight risk, she is a wild spirit that likes to be free. She never had a relationship that lasted more than a few months. She is one of the girls that is just one of the guys. Landry truly outshines in this story. She is an adorable terrified girl that has a backbone more than any of the adults in this book. Just like all the other books you get the banter and dialogue. This book you also get to see how Luke and Lexi situation is going. My heart goes out to him, talk about a hard place. I hope you love Jacks as much as I do. This series is on my highly recommended list.

I love this series and can't wait for the following books.
That being said, Play Fair was a little bit slower than the other books, there wasn't that explosive moment of love, it was much more of a slow burn, but still excellent!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good plotline

I had no idea who loads of characters were in t his story, they just cluttered up the place. I had never read previous books and I didn't care about these extra characters, so I just concentrated on the main leads. It was a good plotline: a nine-year-old turns up on our guitar-player's doorstep.. The social worker says the child is his daughter.... And there's also a woman our guitarist likes. Isn't it fortunate the woman turns out to adore the child? Wow, here's a ready-maid baby-sitter?

Written well, natural dialogue, no editorial mistakes that I spotted.
