Cartel: Book 1 Kindle Edition
How much is a life worth?
I grew up in Columbia, the daughter of a wealthy drug lord. I lived a life of extravagance, until one day a drug run went horribly wrong and everything came crashing down around me.
I was given away. A payment for a debt. The Gypsy Brothers motorcycle club became my owners, and I did everything I could to survive.
But falling in love with the man who owned me wasn't part of the plan ...
Praise for the Cartel trilogy:
'Awesome job Lili ... I am ready to hop on the back of a bike and join the club!' LiteraryGossip.com
'I can't believe it took me this long to finally pick up this author ... sign me up for more of the Gypsy Brothers!' Jasmine, GoodReads

About the author

Lili writes books about vengeful girls and villainous men. Her USA Today bestselling Gypsy Brothers series focuses on a morally bankrupt biker gang and the girl who seeks her vengeance upon them. The Cartel series is a prequel trilogy of full-length novels that explores the beginnings of the club, to be released worldwide in print and ebook in 2015 by HarperCollins.
Lili quit corporate life to focus on writing and so far is loving every minute of it. Her other loves in life include her gorgeous husband and beautiful daughter, good coffee, Tarantino movies and spending hours on Pinterest.
She loves to read almost as much as she loves to write.

- Reviewed in Australia on 7 January 2016Verified PurchaseThis is Dornan and Mariana's story. Wow I'm hooked. From the first chapter that was it. I was reading and I was reading until the final page. And then the final page came and I didn't want it to end, I wanted to rewind and start all over again, to feel those words all over again. You know when you finish a book, but it just stays with you. Well this is it. I thought about the story, the characters and their love, for days after. I don't re-read books very often, but this will be one of them. I have just purchased Kingpin, the next book, but I need to read Cartel one more time, before I start Kingpin and I can not wait. The book is written so well. Perfect characters, words, story and lots of emotions. It's more like a 10 star book in my option. Recommended without a doubt. Grab it, you'll love it.
- Reviewed in Australia on 5 January 2017Verified PurchaseI didn't think it was possible to like, like really like Dornan Ross but Lili has made him likeable....I can't wait for the turning point where you start your love to hate him
Ana is a trooper and I can't wait to see her blossom within her new life
John is quiet and reserved, looking forward to seeing his story expand and lead to...well I don't want to spoil it but you'll know if you've read the Gypsy Brother series
Emilio, still hate him...always will
I'm loving this series and seeing how it all began...bring on Kingpin

Man I want to live in side her brain lol
Again she excelles at dark and twisted tales !
My poor heart can't take much more of pounding away in my chest while reading her books.
I loved the dark romance between Mariana & Dornan , it definitely made me see another side to Dornan that we have seen in the Gypsy Brother series.
I loved that their love slowly grow and it wasn't a fake I love you straight away kinda of book.
Mariana was such a interesting character for me to read I loved that she could be all hard and tough and then crumble when it came to Dornan.
If you loved the Gypsy Brother serise you will love Cartel !!
- Reviewed in Australia on 10 March 2015Verified PurchaseI felt that this was an extension of the 'Grey' series, of which I only read one. The book does not go deep enough to develop characters and a plot. More insight into the racketeers would help and less sex for me. It is just a quick, holiday read. I won't be reading any more books of this series.
- Reviewed in Australia on 10 May 2018Verified Purchasemy friend recommended me this book and i have now read the whole series within a week. i was even going to take holidays from work just to do it as i was in so deep.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another darkly twisted series by Lili Saint Germain
Verified PurchaseCartel by Lili Saint Germain is book 1 of 3 in her new Cartel series. It's set 16 years before the Gypsy Brother series, so you need not have read those beforehand to enjoy this new saga. I guarantee you'll be hooked by page 1 in this tale of revenge, vengeance and lust.
Cartel's opening is one of guns, drugs, passion and money. Vengeance for mistakes and family as payment. You soon learn you never, ever mess with Emilio Ross: Kingpin of the II Sangue Cartel and Marco Rodriguez has done just that by loosing a shipment of coke. This action leads the Sangue Cartel to Columbia Andi. Turn to Marco's daughter Marianna; 19, a woman who has frequently bailed her father out of his epic mistakes. She dreams of leaving her troubled, dirty and controlled existence behind to escape to America and freedom, but it all changes in one evening. Her life is irrevocably altered in an instant and she makes the ultimate sacrifice for her family: becoming a possession.
Marianna is one tough, feisty and fearless female. She's intelligent and strong. These traits impress Emilio and she's not sure how to interpret that.... He's far from kind. The polar opposite in fact and he and his minion Murphy make your skin crawl in every scene their in.Vile, malevolent and cruel are not adequate words for those two. They love to taunt, torture and terrorise people Marianna copes with all she endures by keeping focussed on surviving and protecting what she loves. She's far from broken and submissive, she's damaged, but stubbornly determined.
Emilio's son Dornan also plays a pivotal role in Marianna's time with the Cartel as he is VP of the Gypsy Brothers MC which is also controlled by Emilio. Those familiar with the Gypsy Brothers series know this notorious character well. Will your opinion change... I won't spoil that, but you may understand his behaviour a little more. He is already feeling "the darkness that flowed through his veins disgusted him, but trying to resist it had only ever made things worse." This darkly menacing biker becomes obsessed with Marianna and feels a need building inside him, will the consequences work in her favour or not??
Lili takes you for a walk on the dark and dirty side of life. She makes you question how far you'd be willing to go to save those you loved and what lengths you'd go to to survive. What happens when the lines of right and wrong blur and when the lines of hate and love are crossed... This tale is about one woman's journey to survive against several men who are out to ensure a debt is paid by any means necessary and her fortitude at being able to see what her Endgame will be.
None Gypsy Brother readers:
This first book details the backgrounds and motivations behind the II Sangue Cartel and beginning of The Gypsy Brothers MC which Dornan and his best friend John Portland started with Emilio's assistance. You truly feel like this is laying the foundations for a truly amazing series which with later 2015 releases of Kingpin and Empire will lead into the Gypsy Brothers series perfectly.

5+ smashing stars
Breathless. Speechless. Hungry for more. That was all I could do after finishing Cartel by Lili St-Germain. It was a hair rising experience that I wouldn't trade for anything in the world. It was dark, suspenseful, full of action and erotically romantic that I finished it in one sitting, not wanting to miss out on Dornan and Mariana's strange relationship. I read the Gypsy Brother series and I came to hate Dornan Ross for what he did to Juliette and was thrilled as I watched her exact her revenge. What surprised me the most was to grudgingly come to respect the man who was raised by the kingpin of the Il Sangue drug cartel and then want him to find his happily ever after albeit everything. Finally we meet the man behind the Gypsy Brothers and we're created, later becoming the MC club we know in the first series.
4.5 sexy dreams
I'm certain that my heart sped with each encounter between Mariana and Dornan - even if their meeting was nothing short of surprising considering the circumstances, I really wanted to see Mariana survive. Not the type where you manage to live another day, but the kind where life is a drug and although with its challenges, something to look forward to, and for this girl, that only time happened around Dornan. I can't get over just how amazing this introduction to the series was made and I know I'll be reading the next in the series very soon to find out what happens with the second instalment.

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 Cartel Stars!!!!!
Verified PurchaseWow...I am utterly breathless, captivated and amazed in this wickedly raw, dark, brilliant and intense book that Lili St. Germain has taken me on in her newest release Cartel. It was definitely one of the most raw, violent, dark and gritty books that I have read and I absolutely loved it. I am slapping my forehead as to why I haven’t read any of her books sooner. Ms. Lili has now my full undivided attention with her brilliant storytelling and flawless writing. I will now be one-clicking all her books.
Cartel was one of those books that captured my full attention right off the prologue. I was hooked and could not put this book down. This book was palpating suspenseful, gritty, intense, raw, violent and dark and that's what makes this book so real especially it exposes the dark criminal worlds of Cartels and their networks. There is nothing pretty about this book because it highlights the cruel world of revenge, ownership, violence, death, retaliation, sex trafficking, drugs, and extortion. Ms. Lili St. Germain allowed her readers to be absorbed in the gritty world where monsters, criminals, and dangerous MC bikers lived.
Dornan is the son of a powerful Cartel organization and VP of the Gypsy Brothers MC. He is ruthless, violent, mean, intense, and gritty. He is not your swooning hero who will come to rescue a damsel in distress. He is simply a bad-ass m#therf*&#er, who does what he wants. And when his dad brought Mariana over to the states from Columbia, this bad ass biker begins to show a bit of humanity when it comes to her. For unexplained reasons unbeknownst to him, he finds himself attracted to this feisty Colombian girl. Mariana intrigues him. She is unlike any women that he has come across because she has this inner strength and will to fight back. Dornan knows that Mariana belongs to his dad. She is his slave and property. In order to spare her family’s life from being murdered by the Cartels, Mariana agrees to exchange her life for her family’s. She now belongs to the Cartels and must work her way to pay back the debt that her father owes them.
Cartel really lays the groundwork in exposing as to how Mariana came to be in the possession of Dornan’s father and the Gypsy Brothers MC. Though this book exposes the dark and cruel nature of the Cartels, this book also became a story that laid the groundwork and foundation of a blossoming relationship that begins to ignite between Dornan and Mariana. Their relationship is not of hearts and flowers but of intense, burning, desire to fill in those missing pieces that they crave and feed off each other. Mariana can’t explain why she needs Dornan but she does and vice versa for him as well. Lines of hate and love are blurred and jaded between these two. Nothing is black and white. But one thing is for certain, can these two escape the darkness and find light? Or is this relationship doomed since secrets are yet to be exposed?
There is not much to say but go read Cartel from Lili St. Germain and be prepared to spellbinded with her storytelling and writing. I seriously can’t wait for the next book as to what awaits Dornan and Mariana.

Verified PurchaseNo me ha gustado, es una historia deprimente y triste, y no me parece una novela romántica ni erótica.
Podría haber vivido sin leer este libro, no me ha aportado nada, ni siquiera entretenimiento, que es lo que normalmente busco.
