When Kat was forced to leave the only home she had ever known due to her brother's secrets, she wasn't prepared for what was waiting for her in Tennessee or the choices it would force her to make.
Kat instantly knew she didn't like Blake Reagan. He was cocky, stubborn, and infuriating. What Kat didn't understand was why she couldn't stop thinking about him or the way he made her feel.
The last thing Blake expected was for Kat Archer to storm into his world and turn it upside down. He thought he had her pegged from the beginning, but she destroyed everything he thought he knew. Blake was willing to fight to push his way into Kat's heart, but she put up a wall at every turn as she clung to her past.
If she stayed, she'd risk the only family she had left. If she left, she'd lose Blake and every piece of her heart that he'd managed to steal.

Kat was forced to leave the only home she had ever known due to her brother's secrets.
Her brother is acting shady and jumping at his own shadow, he offers her no explanation just tells her to pack up her things and to leave town indefinitely..
You have to leave now Kat, the only way you can help me is to leave town.
Dustin and I had always been close, he'd been my best friend for as long as I could remember.
What could Dustin have gotten into? I knew it was serious because I’d never seen him act like this.
He may have been the older sibling, but I had always been the responsible one. I had always been there to get him out of trouble.
After arriving at her destination (her Uncle Gary's) she encounters a man in a compromising position in her uncles garage.
"Like what you see, sweetheart?" You can join us." "I really want to, but I don't think you can handle it, from what I've seen thus far, you barely have the equipment to service her, let alone the both of us."
Learning later that his name is Blake and that he helps in her Uncles garage where she also will be helping out..
I know we didn’t start out on the greatest foot, but I think we should be friends.
I love the backwards and forwards sassy/cocky mouthed dialogue between these two..
Both fighting an undeniable attraction, both in it just for fun, how long will fun last before feelings get involved??
I can say I've never met, read, encountered a heroine like Kat in this book, she's like one of the boys but wrapped up in a gorgeous package, she's sassy, tough, and sticks by what she believes in..Half the time she gives these guys a run for their money..
This is normally a genre I kind of don't connect 100% with as I'm generally a lover of biker and dark reads but have found myself leaning more and more towards contemporary and enjoying it and I can honestly say that I enjoyed every second, minute, hour I was absorbed in the pages of this book..You connect on every level with the characters, the authors smooth story telling will have me looking for more by this author..
As far as I can see this is the first book by this author and it's a nice quick easy read. Kat has no idea what's going on with her brother Dustin he's been acting strange since their father died, well before that actually but apart from uncle Gary he's the only family she has left. The book starts with Dustin literally kicking Kat out of their home, he's arranged for her to stay with their uncle Gary until things calm down. Kat's not happy but she's no idea what's going on or how bad things are with Dustin although the fact that she's driving from Florida to Tennessee and he says... “I don’t think you should take your car, Kat. Someone could recognize it and follow you.” Should give her some indication. Kat arrives at her uncles garage late and sees a light on which is when she comes across Blake Reagan and Blake is just the hottest man she's ever seen in her life, he's also having sex with a beautiful blonde with huge fake boobs and Kat realises she's going to have to be very careful around him. Her uncle does everything he can to help her settle and she's surrounded by hot guys everywhere she turns (lots of potential for future books) but none of them affect her like Blake. Kat instantly loves it in Tennessee although it's only temporary until Dustin gets sorted. Like I said this is a quick light read, a few pages in and it's easy to predict how it's going to go but it's fun getting there. It reminded me a lot of 'Until November' in that Kat and November seem very similar. For the most part Kat's a great character, she's one of the boys and just about a dream girlfriend, she loves football she can work on a car plus she bakes, you get the idea but she's also a bit clueless and she has the seemingly compulsory TSTL moment but since this isn't a hard gritty serious read and let's face it we all knew the stupid moment was coming so it didn't bother me as much as it usually does, I just found myself shaking my head. I really enjoyed this book and I'm looking forward to 'Breaking Down' the second book in this series when it's released. #### I had one major problem with this book which I've not come across before, the print on my kindle was so light it was difficult to read, now with hindsight I should have just switched to my iPad but it didn't occur to me at the time.
All the heroine's inner dialogue annoyed me. I could not stand to listen (read) her inner thoughts anymore. (loc 241) Plus, there was too much detail. (loc 235)
This may work for you, but it did not work for me.
I am torn between giving this book a four or a five star rating to be honest. I am giving Letting go a 4.5 star rating despite the little things that bothered me. My rating system is non existent and I should fix that. Since this is Holly Renee's debut novel I am more willing to overlook things I think. The writing was quite good and the length is only 168 pages so time flew us by while I was reading the book. I will probably come up with all the problems this book had sooner or later and I will try to write them in this review.
To be honest, I had no idea how this book arrived at my kindle. Then I started thinking really hard how I got it and I think it was given to me to review it from a reviewing team. The important thing is that I am glad I found this book in my kindle. Before I fixed it on GR it seemed like this novel was a completely stand alone, but after a little search on the author's website, I found out that this book is a part of a new series, which I am guessing will feature Gabe, Johnny and Cash in the later books, which I will be reading.
Letting go might not be an amazing novel since it has some flaws, but it was pretty good. The thing that bothered me the most was the zero explanations that were given about the fact that Gabe and Erica were avoiding each other in the end of this book. I was rooting for them and I hope the next book will be about them.
I have forgiven in this book for something that could be a big no no for me and that was the fact that when Blake and Kat meet, Blake is having sex with some woman. Literally. She walks on them. I let that pass because when Blake started the intercourse didn't know Kat and he doesn't sleep with someone else after meeting Kat. In the end the blond comes again, but I was in an evil mood and I didn't feel bad since I thought he was doing it to make Kat jealous. Things would have gone differently if he wanted to be with that blond though. I think it was just a way to help things going though.
At first I thought that the last chapters were just a way of creating drama, but then I remembered that Kat moved to Tennessee because she was forced to leave her place in Florida not because she wanted to and those chapters were the authors' way to end that chapter.
The story is being told mostly from the Kat's point of view, but Blake has a say every now and then. Despite its flaws the book was good and I recommend it to everyone. This book doesn't have anything that some people might not like like for example cheating.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Kat and her brother are everything to each other, they were all each other had...until he got himself in some sort of trouble and decided he wanted Kat to leave their home. He claims it isn't safe for her there and she needs to go to Tennessee and stay with their father's best friend, Gary. She can't change his mind and he won't open up to her about what's really going on with him so she doesn't have a choice but to go ahead and leave. She didn't know then that she was about to meet a group of people who would change the course of her life and have her reconsidering where "home" truly was.
Kat is one of the most unique and likable female characters I've read about. She's confident, loyal, and a caring friend while also being a feisty firecracker that doesn't put up with any crap from anyone. She fits right in at Gary's garage; with her knowledge and ability with cars, her enthusiasm for sports and her participation in the playful trash talking the guys do they quickly accept her into their group of friends.
Blake works for Gary too, and even though we don't get the best first impression of him, he soon shows us that he's capable of being more than just a cocky player looking for a one night hook up. Kat's different than most girls he's been around. She's real, and the more he gets to know her the deeper his feelings get. Kat knows she's falling for him too, but her stay in Tennessee is only temporary because she refuses to leave her brother for good.
When her brother's trouble finally catches up to hurt her, her eyes are opened as to not only the severity of his problems but also just how much her new "family" in Tennessee loves her. She realizes that family doesn't always have to be blood and that letting herself love and be loved by Blake doesn't mean she's turned her back on her brother.
When Kat's brother brings trouble to their door, she temporarily moves in to Tennessee. She has no idea how much her life is going to change. Blake is living life, a job he loves, close friends and no lack of willing women. When these two meet, the attraction is immediate....my only complaint is how they meet. The two come to a friends with benefits arrangement, after Kat isn't staying. You know what they say about best laid plans. I enjoyed all the characters in the story and look forward to reading more
Holly Renee did an amazing job writing Letting Go. I absolutely loved their writing style and found myself engaged from chapter one on.
In this book, we meet FMC Kat as she is forced out of her home due to her brother's secrets and unwillingness to tell her what's going on. She moves to Tennessee, and that's where she first meets Blake. Kat is not Blake's biggest fan from the getgo, and that's where this slight enemies-to-lovers dynamic comes into play. Their back and forth banter was fun to watch play out.
Easy story fast read . I enjoyed the characters .The boys are hot and sexy of course and Blake he's a keeper. I had a moment where I wanted to smack Kat. Anyways I love Gary that man needs a book! They all do I sense some set up in the storyline. Looking forward to more.

My rating 5 stars
What fantastic debut novel! I loved this book. It ticked all the boxes for me, dual pov's, sassy female lead, arrogant male lead, hot and steamy scenes and a great story. This book was well written and it had a great storyline. The characters were interesting and the story was easy to follow. It kept me interested from start to finish.
After being forced from her childhood home by her brother Dustin's less than desirable ways, Kat moves to Tennessee to be with her Uncle Gary.
The moment Kat steps into Gary's garage she gets her first encounter with Blake. Being the sassy moth that she is she doesn't hold back either. Much to Blake's surprise.
Throughout the book the sexual tension and chemistry between Kat and Blake is hot and heavy.
Kat's convinced herself that her stay in Tennessee is just temporary. Just until Dustin sorts things out. What she didn't count on was that her head and heart wouldn't agree with each other of the fact she could be in danger.
'No strings' just 'casual' sexual encounters suited Blake just fine. That was until Kat walked into Gary's garage where he worked. No no-one seemed as appealing as Kat. Her sweet body and sassy moth invaded his thoughts and changed his outlook on women. He fought against the pull she has over him. But in the end truths come out. Can he show Kat what she means to him before it's too late?
In this book we also meet Johnny, Cash and Gabe who also work at the garage. I hope we have more from all of these characters in future books.
Overall this was a quick great read. I look forward to reading more from Holly in the future.
This book is your typical New Adult book. Girl meets boy. Boy meets girl. Tension evolves. Problems occur. Boy is hero. And so on and so on. However, I received an ARC for it so I read it. Not mention I do love me some New Adult every once in a while, sue me. So we have a heroine (who actually isn’t weak or annoying for once, well for the most part) and we have a chiseled, brooding, and cocky hero with an elusive V cut who was just so lick-able (surprise surprise) the heroine was literally drooling from the mouth. If you give me angst and tension it’s usually all fair game for me. I could live off of that stuff. But all of this stuff that occurred in the book was just typical.
It was a very easy and fast read. I actually read it in maybe 4 hours? Most of the characters I enjoyed for the most part. Most of them were predictable and their actions were predictable but, for a short read it was feasible. Back story of the characters would have been great. Some things are said about certain people and I have no clue who or what happened. I think that in the future I will be anticipating Gabe and Erika’s story a little bit more.
The ending for me felt rushed. All of the events leading up to the ending however were paced just right. I felt like the author was maybe ready to just jump to the end of the story already. Towards the end things got predictable and I might have rolled my eyes a couple of times. The story is mostly told in Kat’s POV but I enjoyed the little bit that we got from Blake. I am sucker for male POV’s. The TENSION was great. The angst, ehh. It was a pleasant debut book nonetheless.
I had a really hard time reading this book. I gave it 2 stars because I try to save the 1 star for books that are full of typos or that I cannot make myself finish. I was able to force myself to finish this book. The main character, Kat, was really annoying and I didn’t like the way the story was written to tell rather than show. Kat kept complaining about the male lead, Blake, he was annoying and rude and so sexy but the relationship was never developed. She spent so much time telling us how much she disliked the main male character after they briefly met twice. We were not able to form any opinions on anyone, the reader was told what to think after brief interactions. Kat was so full of herself. She continually told reader how hot she was, how sexy she looked and how attractive others found her. All the guys were so attractive and all her guy friends growing up were so sexy too. Characters who are pretty don’t need to think about it and tell the reader how attractive they and their friends are every time they walk in a room. Even when the POV switched to Blake, he shared too many thoughts with the reader. Entire paragraphs were unnecessary or could have been achieved with a sentence. There were some short chapters that were only there to serve as a summary of what the character was thinking but it was not anything important, this is paraphrased but may have been in the book “I like her and she likes me and she is afraid of relationships. She doesn’t know I am afraid too…” If Kat already told the reader she was afraid of relationships, we do not need Blake to tell us again for her. I am really surprised how many stars this book has on here.
I liked this debut even though I felt it was a little rushed towards the end and could have been a little bit more.
It starts with Kat basically being kicked out of her own house by her brother as he claims it isn't safe! This entire part was vague, but that just drew me in more. She goes to her Uncles. She then literally collides with Blake whilst he's in the middle of doing the dirty with another woman!! Instantly she's drawn to him and equally dislikes him too.
I enjoyed the alt POV's though it's mostly Kat's story to be told. The sexual tension was good and kept you wanting to keep reading. The actual sex was hot too!
At times I felt Blake was maybe a little bit too much of a softy. At times he comes across as this macho alpha and then at other times a love struck puppy x either way though I did like his character.
I was a little disappointed with the end as I felt it could have been drawn out more. It seemed to conclude too quickly and neatly for me. There was angst, but I would've liked a little more tension and angst towards the end.
Having said that, I did truly enjoy the read and it was a page turner alright, therefore I am giving this debut a fantastic 4 stars x
Very well done.
I received a copy of this book for an honest review.
HOLY HE$$ I wish I could give this 10 stars, I loved it! If I was younger and single I would be packing up and moving to Tennessee to look for this garage full of hot men with hearts as sweet as tea in summer! Kat is forced to leave her home in Florida by her older brother and goes to Tennessee to live temporarily with her Uncle and help him at his custom garage. Her first impression of the garage is not one she would have expected but she is mesmerized by the blue eyes she sees. Blake is not sure what to make of Kat, but he would like to explore it more. The other men and women that are friends to Blake and Kat are strong characters on their own and help the story. Loved Blake's family and enjoyed the names of the other guys in the story, especially Johnny and his brother! This book has the heat that will make you melt, the suspense that will keep you on edge, and added together this book has it all and will make you fall in love with it! I cannot wait to read more in this series and really hope Gabe is up next!
Wow is all I can say! Normally I am not a fan of the so called insta love stories but this had me captured from the beginning .
They way that Kat could really careless what Blake did drove him crazy. It made hime want her more!!! Kat is not one to really like being told what to do. It all begins with her shady brother sending her away to live in Tennessee with her Uncle.
Blake likes what he sees in Kat the feisty lady who claims to only be in town temporarily. Blake is determined to make her his and to keep her there in Tennessee. The chemistry connection that make is explosive from the beginning.
When Kat makes up her mind can Blake be her hero to change it? Will Kat realize that blood is not always the family that you really need.
Holly Renee for you first novel you did phenomenal and I will definitely be reading more of your books .
This book has hidden secrets, lies, lust, heartbreak and loads of hot sex. There is loyalty between all the guys that work in the garage & and Kat make some great friendships in Tennessee.
****SOME SPOILERS****
Kat gets turfed out of her childhood family home by her brother Dustin that is keeping things from her. She goes to her dad's best friends where she first gets a glimpse of a hot guy getting it on with a sexy woman. He works in the garage where her job is going to be, his name is Blake. He's cocky but sexy as sin and they can't stay away from each other, until she has to go back home for her loser brother. Kat gets dragged into Dustin's screw-up of a life and she has major regrets of leaving Blake behind.
Will there be an HEA for Kat & Blake? Or is it all too late?
I read this book as a quick / cute/ fluffy read, and that's all it really is.
It hits all the romance clichés, relying mostly on awfully repetitive sex scenes to cover up the lack of original storyline. The so-called angst factor is so weak that it's almost laughable, the heroin's supposed blindness to her own feelings is not much better, and the epilogue just made me remove the third star that I was still willing to give and seriously damaged my opinion of Blake .
I recieved this for an honest review.. I have to say that I just fell in love with Kat and Blake!!! Such a fantastic read..
I found myself hooked into their story right from the beginning... This story was such a hot read that I found myself sad that it was over.. I loved Blake and his cockiness from the very beginning. These two complimented each other perfectly!!!
Such a wonderful debut for this author, I cant wait to see what comes next!!!
Letting Go by Holly Renee was a very cathartic read for me. It was emotional and healing at the same time. This was a powerful story that anyone who has a difficult past should read. Its message was clear. Healing is important for everyone and finding a way to move on from difficult experiences in life is how you get to happiness. This is a must for anyone struggling.
WOW! There is a whole lot of sass, great friendships, super charged chemistry and sizzling sex scenes in this book. I'm a huge fan and will be one clicking every book Holly Renee ever releases. This is one hell of a series starter.
So, this was good, and Blake was hot as hell. I really, really appreciated the fact that it didn’t take long before Blake knew he wanted Kat. I’m pretty sure it was before the 50% mark, and when I say wanted, I mean WANTED — like, he was down bad for her.
Unfortunately, the toxic masculinity had me ripping my hair out. I guess it’s to be expected since this book came out in 2015, but man, was it irritating to read about. It sadly contributed to me giving this book a 3-star rating instead of the 4-star rating I actually thought, for most of the book, that I would end up giving it:
"Pretty? Men aren’t supposed to be pretty."
"I knew I sounded like a chick. I was pretty disgusted with myself. I couldn’t believe I had become this strung out over a woman."
"I should have been ecstatic to watch a football game with my boys and have a beer in my hand, but it just reminded me of Kat. I missed her, even though I had just been with her a couple of hours ago. Therefore, one of my favorite manly activities made me feel like a pussy."
If you tell me that you could read this without rolling your eyes, you’re a liar.
Kat's world unravels when her brother, Dustin, urges her to pack without much explanation. Dustin, once her closest confidant, now appears consumed by shadows, acting uneasy and suspicious in a way she's never observed before. As she embarks on a journey to her uncle, seeking protection and answers, she stumbles upon a startling surprise in her uncle's garage—a mysterious man caught in a compromising position, and the banter that follows is hysterical. The chemistry sizzles between Blake and Kat. And they find themselves entangled in a web of attraction pursuing pleasure without the complications of emotions. But how long before deeper feelings come into play? And what has Dustin got himself into? This was a quick light read, with plenty of comical moments, and was somewhat easy to predict, however, on the whole, I enjoyed it.
After 50%, I realized I was just torturing myself. I'm disappointed, as I have read other books by this author that were great. This one was loaded with awkward writing, bad cliches, boring plot and barely likable characters. I rarely find myself so OVER a book before I finish, but this one was a dud :(
Oh my giddy aunt oh how amazing was this book as soon as I started it I couldn’t put it down it captured me in from the very first chapter reading sharing and feeling the love between Kat and Blake is indescribable cannot put words to it but damn Blake Reagan you captured my heart the moment you spoke fantastic 5*
Always a fast and easy but wonderful read. She has definitely become one of my favorite authors. I love who you can find references from her other books within all her books.
This book was confusing at first but then as I get more into the book I get it and I just loved the book I would recommend the book to everyone who reads romance with intrigue.
