Hot Stuff: A Sexy Sports Romance Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 217 ratings

He's the newly drafted quarterback.
Hot. Arrogant. Too sexy for words.
Ready to score.

I'm an athletic intern, and the coach's daughter.
Driven. Determined. Prepared to conquer the world.
Completely off-limits.

The NFL is full of rules. Rules I've never broken. Never challenged. Never even scratched--until the day Lucas Carrington crashes into my life with his hard body and I-don't-give-a-f*ck attitude.

After I almost injure my father's star player, I volunteer to make sure he's in top shape. At first, it's hell. I don't like his cockiness, his easy smile. Don't like the way he oozes sex. Or how his penetrating eyes follow me everywhere.

That doesn't stop me from wanting him.

He's meant to be a distraction--something to occupy my mind for these precious few remaining hot summer nights before I'm forced to leave football behind forever.

I know what we're doing will lead nowhere good. I know we're crossing the line. And I know my father will never understand.

None of that matters.

But maybe it should.

Rules aren't meant to be broken.

Or are they?

I loved this book. It's very well written, has great characters and is a beautiful love story.
Lucas is a Quarter Back and hoping to make it big and move away. His plans go awry and he remains in Chicago. This brings him in contact with Gillian, an athletic intern. And coach's daughter, so forbidden territory. But somehow that doesn't seem to matter as their attraction to one another is so strong.
This is a lovely story of trying to do the right thing and finding that the right thing isn't always the right thing!
I don't know that much about American Football so I wasn't sure if this would be a difficult read, as it turns out my fears were groundless.

This was a great sports read from Kim Karr.

The story is about Gillian and Lucas, they have great chemistry together and were both great characters. It's a fast paced, fun, sexy but sweet romance read. I was quickly sucked into the story and did't want to put it down. Kim Karr didn't disappoint with another read.

Hot Stuff was outta this world! I simply could not get enough of it! Everything about it was perfect!

This was the first book of Kim Karr's that I have read, but it will definitely not be the last. From sexy, arrogant football players to beautiful, independent heroines, Hot Stuff has it all.

I loved the story. The chemistry between Gillian and Lucas flew right off the page, and from the moment they met, you could tell that they were perfect for one another.

This story had me going through a rollercoaster of emotions. One minute, I was laughing and then the next, I was close to tears. The novel was written brilliantly, the author could not have done a better job.

All I have to say is, read this novel. You will not regret it!

This is the story of Lucas Carrington, an up and coming football player for the Chicago bears and Gillian Whitney athletic training intern.

To be honest, I don't know a great deal about American Football, so I wasn't too sure what her job entailed and I was also hoping that the football didn't overshadow the actual story. I am pleased to say that the balance was just right in this aspect, however the romance between Lucas and Gillian was for me lacking somewhat.

I didn't feel the chemistry between the two and I think that may have been down to not enough character building. Both Lucas and Gillian remained a mystery to me, so it made it very difficult to understand what it was that made them connect on a deeper level.

Overall I don't think this was a particularly bad story and I know some of it's readers will disagree with me, but sadly there just wasn't enough of a connection with either Lucas or Gillian to make this a great read.

Hot stuff by Kim Karr is a fantastic read and an amazing love story.
Kim Karr has written this very well and has very unique characters and a beautiful plot to go with them.
Lucas is a Quarter Back, whom is trying to make it big and move away. He's always dreamed of getting drafted and moving away, however, fate sends him to his hometown, he knows he's going to have to suck it up and accept it. After all, he's dreamed of making it big by doing what he loves.
Gillian is the coaches daughter, she's forbidden, a no go area. However, she's instantly attracted to this douche and just can't help herself.

I loved this book. It was sweet. The characters drew me in and the love inside the story was so intense, my heart beats for them. Obviously I wanted these two to get together... It's a book to read!

Lucas is the next big thing he has a plan and when it falls through it brings Gillian into his life. Things aren’t east he’s the ball player and she works for the team and the rules say they can’t get together.
I liked both Lucas and Gillian they don’t just jump into bed they have a sweet friendship that blossoms. Gillian has a plan for her future but is it one she really wants ? There is drama but it’s emotional the push and pull of expectations over desires.
For me the first part of the story was quite slow and too much time was given to explaining what happens at boot camp but the second half picked up the action.
Another good book in this series of standalones.

This is the first book by Kim Karr that I've read and I was disappointed.
This story follows Lucas the star quarterback and Gillian the coaches daughter.
When Lucas gets drafted to the NFL he's not 100% happy the Bears aren't his first choice but it's still he NFL. During training when he spots a hot girl he gets injured and she happens to work at the club which he knows he should stay away Verón her but something is pulling him to her and when there not together he can't stop thinking of her.

Gillian arrives to do her last internship at the Bears club before she heads of for a job. Whilst out on the side lines with the water cart she injures star player Lucas so sets out to help him get better, but spending time with him starts to get complicated with how she feels for him. When they start to see each other they know they have an end date when training camp finishes. When Gillian's dad finds out about them he asks Lucas to do something for him.
    Will they get there HEA.

Just when I thought I couldn’t possibly love another Kim Karr book more than all the others, well let’s just say, thought died. A sport romance, forbidden love, and all consuming and captivating characters simply make Hot Stuff a book you cannot put down!!! I am still suffering from a huge book hangover!!!
Lucas Carrington’s dream of playing football in the pros is now upon him. Not only is he the top pick drafted quarterback but he is HOT, sizzling HOT…insanely HOT, intoxicating HOT with a physique of tight, coiled muscles from his chest, to his arms and legs. DROOLING!!! Back to reality… football is his life and being the coach’s golden egg, he is focused to keep it that way…EAT, SLEEP, BREATH football. He has something to prove and it had to be done the moment he stepped foot at the NFL training camp. Focus on football…that is until Gillian, the sports trainer intern, walked on the field. Let’s just say this girl with long strawberry blond hair, green eyes that glittered, legs a mile long, sexy, sassy and just breathtaking beautiful, immediately made his football focus cloudy. He knew he had to have her BUT who in their right mind would hit on the coach’s daughter, “If hitting on a girl at NFL training camp bleed all kinds of wrong, then going after the coach’s daughter screamed insanity.” Stay focus Lucas!
Gillian, too, has her own life mapped out. After she graduates, she is going to get a “regular” job and live a “normal” life or so that is what her father wishes for her. But then Lucas, aka Hot Stuff, crashes into her life and heart.
Lucas’ and Gillian’s connection happens immediately. It is raw, real, relevant, and undeniable fueled with intensity. Both knew it was wrong. Gillian was the forbidden fruit. The temptation was just too great for Lucas. “She was pure temptation. The way she spoke. The way she moved. The way she laughed and the way she made me laugh. What she did to me.” He had no choice but to take a bite of the forbidden fruit. But reality is reality which meant this could never work. Love doesn’t always prevail….but maybe????
Hot Stuff is a stand- alone MUST READ story told from dual POVs! For those who think this is simply a football book, it so is not!!!! There is not too much football. There is not too much forbidden love. It is the perfect mix and is a beautiful love story about two people who belong together and desperately desire to make it work. It is a fun, funny, sexy, steamy, emotional (yes, you will shed some tears) and at times frustrating but it is so worth your time!!! In typical Kim Karr fashion, the story is flawlessly written with well- developed characters, as well as intriguing backstories. A FIVE STAR read for sure!!!

Lucas Carrington’s life is all about football. Going all the way to the NFL has been his dream for a long time and what he’s been working for all along. Now he finds himself drafted into the one team he despised, in the city he wanted to leave behind and with the hots for the head coach’s daughter. This is definitely NOT the life he expected when reaching for the biggest goal of his life.
Gillian Whitney is determined to enjoy her last summer as an athletic intern with her father’s team before she gets her doctorate and goes after the normal life he’s always wanted for her, but then she met the new quarterback by way of injury. He’s too full of himself, but so handsome it drives her to distraction and things will just go wrong.
Lucas and Gillian are instantly attracted to each other, sparks are flying like a 4th of July firework display and, though they both know a relationship is off-limits and the cons are way more than the pros, there is no stopping the lust train and they are going for the ride of their lives!
I really enjoyed this book. Despite the fact that I’m not football savvy, I could follow the way it’s written and all the references to the sport and I could understand how these couple lives and breathes the sport. Then, there’s their personalities, the relationship they develop and how their feelings grow and evolve.
The story is well written and flows effortlessly. I liked the characters, their interaction and backstories, knowing how these two were shaped into the people they are and what drives them as well as the secondary characters who somehow affect the decisions they make.
In my book, Lucas and a Gillian are a couple one should not miss.

5.0 out of 5 stars ... controversy today in professional football it was a pure delight to read Hot Stuff by Kim Karr
Reviewed in the United States on 27 September 2017
With all the controversy today in professional football it was a pure delight to read Hot Stuff by Kim Karr. This novel was a reminder of why fans love this sport. It showcased a young athlete's hopes and dreams of making it in the professional league. What made it even better was not only witnessing this young man make his professional dreams come true but also falling in love at the same time.

Luca Carrington was a first round draft pick for the Chicago Bears. It was the one team he didn't want to be a part of. He wanted to get as far as possible from Chicago and the negative memories of his childhood. After being put in his place by the head coach he's had an attitude adjustment. Training camp is the real test, the make it or break it test that will determine whether he is cut out to become a professional football player. Lucas Carrington is all in, ready to prove his worth as a starter quarterback and a team player. On the very first day of camp he is injured by a runaway water cart being pushed by one of the intern trainers. He doesn't know if he was knocked silly by the cart or the beautiful intern behind the beast. He's ready for some intense therapy with this stunning beauty. He knows she's off limits but when he finds out she is the coach's daughter it makes her all the more unattainable. He never allowed women to be a distraction in his football career but Gillian Whitney is commanding his attention.

Gillian Whitney has lived professional football all her life. It's natural that she would pursue a career as an athletic trainer. She also promised her father that once she got her doctorate degree she would leave professional sports behind and live a normal life. In her mind football is the normal life but her father has different ideas. This summer is going to be the last time attending training camp as an intern trainer. She intends to make the most of it before she returns to school in Florida. On the first day she runs down the new star quarterback with a water cart, not a good start. After a minor injury she feels like it is her responsibility to take care of the sexy quarterback. She didn't count on falling hopelessly in love. Their time is on the clock. When training camp ends will their relationship survive when their careers are on different paths?

This book stood out among all the sports romance novels because it took the reader from beginning of the rookie days through the professional aspect of football. The reader was able to experience professional football from different points of view in the field. Through Lucas readers got to see the players point of view. Through Gillian we got to see how the athletes remain well oiled machines. Through Gillian's father readers got to see how a coach executes plays while dealing with the business side of professional sports. The best part was experiencing two people finding a love that was worth fighting for. Hot Stuff by Kim Karr is a winner!

I didn't connect as well with these characters as I did with the ones in the previous books, but they weren't any less likable. I think because I'm not huge football fan, there was a disconnect...But it was my issue. Fav part was when Gillian finally convinced her Dad she was just like him. Swoon!!

This was just okay for me. I didn't immediately get the connection between these two. They seemed to have great physical attraction and not much else going on.
